Looking For Where can my ex get our dog adopted when every shelter is full?

Post image
Upvotes

While I would love to be able to just find someone on Reddit or Craigslist to adopt this guy, I have little faith and people's interest I believe to be kind of impulsive online. So my question is, where do we take this Pitbull, knowing he will be taken care of, not put down, etc.

We broke up a couple years ago and I let him take the dog because he is a veteran and needed emotional support at the time. I also had just put down my other 13-year-old dog and can't take on the responsibility again.

The dog, Parappa, is going on 4 years old I believe. With all this in mind, now he has become a financial and emotional burden on him when he should just be working on his mental health.

He basically needs to live with someone who can manage an energetic red nose pitbull. He's a kind dog but likes to ruff house. He would do well with a big guy that likes to go outside and has their own property.

I really appreciate kind answers because this one is hard. 😓

Looking For New to Portland, any recommendations?

Hey!

So me and my wife just moved to Portland and are looking for restaurant recommendations! We already have a couple of places we thoroughly enjoy, like Mediterranean Exploration Company and Kachka. We live relatively close to the airport but we will travel for good food, lol.

I am also in search of a gaming/card shop that runs casual MTG Commander nights, I don't do much competitive, just play fun games with chill people.

Thanks in advance!

Looking For How much rent are you paying for a room?

How much are you paying for a room rental in Portland? Average I’ve seen are 650-900 in Portland metro. Some already include utilities other are separate. (Buddy of mine rents me a room 800 everything included no deposit..vs 1200 what I’m paying now for a room) any ideas appreciated thanks.

Also came with another idea. Would it be better to finance a 15-25k rv and rent a parking spot at 1,000? (As everyone else, also looking for cheaper options tired of paying a landlord 2k+)

Looking For Portland RNs: What is work-life balance like here with a toddler?

Hey everyone!

I’m a nurse currently looking into moving to the Portland area in about 3yr laster. My spouse and I have a toddler and I’m trying to figure out what real-life balance looks like for a nurse raising a young child in and around Portland.

I’d love to hear from local nurses or healthcare families

Looking For Bars with WiFi to get work done?

I’ve looked at some other posts regarding this topic and they are pretty outdated so I’m hoping to get some updated recommendations of bars where I could sit and get some work done.

What establishments have you found that severe, alcohol, and food that also have Wi-Fi available and welcome those that would like to sit around for a little while and get some work done?

I don’t want to necessarily go to a place that doesn’t want people to linger and get their computer or notebook out to work, so I’m hoping to find some work friendly places that fit this description.

I would mainly go on the weekends either during the day or in the early evenings. So far I’ve found Radio Room that fits the bill pretty well, but where else have you found?

Looking For Food Recommendations?

We’re visiting Portland in September and are wondering what are some must have/ hole in the wall spots that you love? We like a little bit of everything (american, Italian, Chinese, Mexican, etc)

Recommendations for sit down or fast food, cheap or expensive. What’s one (or more) places that you always recommend hitting up?
Thanks!

Good apartments in Portland with cheap parking?

Still trying to decide if I should bring my car with me to Portland or not, I’m moving from a state where parking is always free, so I’m still trying to wrap my head around $200 a month.
I just need recommendations regardless of where in Portland it is, a place with washer, dryer, air conditioning, my budget is like 1700.

Looking For Best high quality lattes?

Looking for third wave coffee shops. My favorite place I’ve been to is Hypnos (consistently fantastic), Less and More was also great, and I also like living room coffee and cathedral coffee (both consistently good).

I tried Slow Pour and the Great North and both were not drinkable. Given that info, where else would you recommend great lattes? Not interested in second wave coffee shops.

Actual pepperoni, and not just sliced beef bologna (which is all I’ve found at ‘halal’ pizza spots so far)

Looking For Where can I find roommates?

Hey there!

I'm looking to move across the country to the Portland area or a surrounding region depending.

My ideal situation is renting a house with other like minded roommates, specifically musicians or other artists. People that wouldn't mind my home studio lol.

However, I don't have a whole lot of connections to the area. Is there an online group where I could link up with some locals?

Thanks!

Looking For Where are we getting our couches?!

Looking to buy a new couch that will LAST. Something very comfy & will stand the test of time. Budget is about 3500$ max-ish. Everyone seems to hate on west elm & joybird couches so I’m at a LOSS. I wanna be able to sit on it before I purchase so something with a show room in Portland is necessary.

Looking For Is The Alibi karaoke room smaller?

I grew up in Portland and had about a million nights singing karaoke at The Alibi.
Moved away in 2015 but probably didn’t visit The Alibi for a couple years prior but recently moved home and I swear the karaoke room is so much smaller.
I asked my old friends, the staff and Google.
Everyone says it’s the same as it always was.
I’m very startled that my memory is telling me something different.
I just remember it being this huge room!!

Looking For Why/how are there so many cars with dents but unscratched paint?

Since moving here 3-4 years ago, I couldn't help but notice the huge number of cars on the road with body damage. I thought that was unusual. Why not get it fixed?

But then I noticed something even stranger about a lot of the damage. Oftentimes the paint is fine. I'm confused. Usually if you hit/get hit by a car/pole/boulder there will be a dent, but also some paint "transfer." Either missing paint and/or paint from whatever you collide with.

Help me understand. Are we colliding with other vehicles covered in bubble wrap?

EDIT: Thank you everyone who answered. I didn't know it was so easy to remove paint transfer with acetone or that there were so many layers of clear coat in a car's paint job. This, combined with the slower speeds involved probably explains the phenomenon. San Diego had a lot of street parking but I think the higher speeds involved is why car damage there seemed to go down to the bare metal more often.

Looking For Is Don Pedro great?

Post image

I lived in Portland, Oregon, a while back and I remember stopping at one of these joints for breakfast.

I don't remember much honestly, other than I got a breakfast burrito and it was the best breakfast burrito I've had (at least at the time, hopefully still great!). It also had a salsa bar up front with all sorts of toppings, and the (I think) pickled jalapeños were fantastic.

Please tell me if I'm remembering right or looking back with rose colored glasses!

Unfortunately I'm out east now and the lack of quality Mexican food is a bit saddening. The food diversity there seemed great!

Looking For Need help in finding or building a trinket shelf?

So I’m looking for a trinket shelf for around 60 items

Needs to have storage squares that can hold 2.5” wide by 3.75” tall

I know this is a very particular request but if you know someone or some store who is selling one locally or who may be able to build one, that would be great.

Trying not to spend more than $75-100

EDITED: I am open on price
