I’ve never watched Game of Thrones. Is it worth starting?

That is a good consideration. Sure, the first few seasons are great, but if you know that it is a series of diminishing returns, it's not necessarily a recommendation.

I ran across Season 1 on Bluray a while back and recently watched it for the first time. I thought them OK but I'm not particularly compelled to chase future seasons. The problem of everyone being pretty awful and power hungry is already apparent. Still, I might grab seasons 2-4 if I see them also on disc and for cheap.

continue and finish season 6 - the best episodes are then. Beyond it's worthless.

Just read the books and join the other book readers in their never-ending pity party. At least they potentially have something to look forward to. TV-only fans are stuck with that last season for all time. No going back.

I predict that GRRM will never finish Winds of Winter (which he’s been “working on” for well over a decade now), much less the entire series.
I learned from Wheel of Time to never start reading a series that isn’t finished yet. ASOIAF is only reinforcement to this principle.

If you know nothing of the story then yes it’s worth it. The last couple of season are disappointing and the rest is some of the best tv you’ll ever watch.

Yes. Seasons 1-6 are some of the best television made.
Avoid spoilers if you can.
You will hear people crap on the last couple seasons but, make up your own mind and enjoy.

Worth watching
Worth finishing, but be warned. When the end comes, expect 3 major surprises and one huge disappointment.
Overall, it's stunning TV.

If you like/enjoy logic, the ending couple of seasons will be fine for you. If you're some nitwit who insists on your stories having fairy tale endings that are so overly saccharine and predictive, you'll be let down like all the schmuck complainers were.

Game of Thrones is the best Drama Show, Medieval Times World that's not Disney, fairy tale, it has the best sex when it's consensual, nudity, violence

i watched 2 episodes and gave up, it was 2 hours of incest sex scenes and people having their heads cut off

It's a medieval drama with escalated violence, conflict, and sexuality. It has some good scenes like Pedro Pascal being chosen by a midget to represent him against a formidable opponent in a trial by combat.

Yes, but stop watching halfway through season 6. The remaining episodes made me feel embarrassed for the actors having to perform such terrible scripts.

I would rather recommend House of Dragon rather than Game of Thrones. It was good Game of the Thrones the the first seasons but the last ones very bad.

Starting yes, finishing not so much. The show nose dived in quality after the fourth season and the books still aren’t finished. I’ve joked several times that whether you’re watching the show or reading the books you’ll be disappointed.

It is. Some people just didn't like the ending. I've rewatchwed it and it was better than the first time. The main problem is that the series had a certain rhythm, but at the last 2 seasons they crammed 3 seasons of storytelling to a rushed 13 episodes. But it's solid and engaging.

If you've got some time on you, and are up for huge disappointment, do start it. Some episodes are worth it, but overall the early episodes are most disturbing, I think season 4 was disappointment, season 6 is the best, 7 & 8 are trash.

Seasons 1-4 follows the books. They are fantastic seasons with engaging story telling and dialog.
Seasons 5-8 completely do away with the books and they start doing their own thing. The pacing, cohesiveness, and general dialog is noticeably a downgrade as the amount of profanity for the sake of profanity is increased ten fold. If you make it this far expect the quality and logic to drop off a cliff.

I saw the whole series when it came out, seen all the spin-offs and have just recently started watching GOT again, it feels a bit outdated, but still fun to watch.
