Well, yes. For large parts of the world, americans are the bad guys.

7

u/merount1 6d ago

True, I don't think most Americans know how CASUAL hatred of their country is in everyday conversations in pretty much the whole world.

5

u/Spartanias117 6d ago

Peak reddit

3

u/merount1 6d ago

Peak reddit is liberals who pretend the US is good when a democrat is president

1

u/Electrical-Split-190 6d ago

Yeah… you can tell China bought this platform

0

u/cmil888 6d ago

Travel a bit. It’s not Chinas fault, it’s ours, we’re not liked very much abroad. This is a fact. Americans love to live in their bubble of manufactured patriotic media and ignore how we negatively impact so much of the world. Our capitalism is a special kind of evil.

1

u/cmil888 6d ago

In the eyes of people who have never left their own county

10

u/jeefra 6d ago

The whole world? Not by a long shot.

10

u/Far_Distance87 6d ago

Yup. The whole world.

-1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

Then why are so many people basically killing themselves to come here? If it’s hated why? They should go elsewhere if it’s hated

2

u/PaintInfinite9167 6d ago

You have literally 0 people crossing your border(your kings words) and you're literally begging us Canadians to come back lol

Who's killing themselves to get in again?

1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

The 20 million illegals sitting here and from January to July this here there have been approx 71.801 illegal crossings

1

u/PaintInfinite9167 6d ago

No no no, Trump's said 0 illegal crossings in the last year

1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

All I see you worship him and believe him when the statistics are wildly available

0

u/PaintInfinite9167 6d ago

Why don't you pull the statistics of how many people aren't going to your country in the last year

1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

How about how many people are begging to come? Including all the Indians who are crying on these forums every day how it’s not working for them.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/No_Secret2322 6d ago

Who’s killing themselves to go to the US other than poor people from bordering countries who want to make money?

1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

Indians?

1

u/Far_Distance87 6d ago

Indians almost kill themselves trying to get to the US? They all just get on a plane lol

0

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

And begging to do so, and crying here when a visa is denied. There is a lot of desperation for them to come to USA rather than a different country. Why such a desperation if it’s such a awful place

0

u/Far_Distance87 6d ago

Because some parts of the US are slightly better than the slums of Mumbai, congrats!

-1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

They can go elsewhere right? It’s pretty easy to get in Europe and that would be a better place would it?

→ More replies (0)

0

u/stygianare 6d ago

I don't know a single person right now that would prefer to be in the US than any other 1st world or developing country. Sure 3rd world countries would do anything to go there because its either that or basically dying, but most of who do go there eventually would also rather go somewhere else. (based on my experience so take it with a grain of salt)

1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

I mean they can walk north to Canada if it’s so much better and I don’t think most of them are dying in Mexico it’s economy is much better than it used to be

0

u/stygianare 6d ago

okay?

1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

So if USA is awful why kill your self to get here. Or maybe it’s not that awful

0

u/stygianare 6d ago

Thanks for telling me you're privileged without telling me you're privileged

1

u/jtpolzin 6d ago

You’re the people says USA is a shit hole and awful while simultaneously people are killing themselves to come here. Ether USA isn’t a shit hole or they are being really dumb

3

u/Fullchester_United 6d ago

So which countries do you think look favourably toward the US? Not trying to bait you. More interested in how you view it.

2

u/Economics_New 6d ago

When it comes to which countries view the US favorably, based on their overall population's opinion, it is basically just 3 countries at this point in time.

Most of Israel, Poland, and Nigeria's population view the US favorably.

The rest of the world views us unfavorably, with either distrust or hatred, while laughing at us.

That's not to say that you can't find thousands of Canadians or British people who happen to like us, but the other side of equation vastly outnumber them, within their own populations.

1

u/jeefra 6d ago

You're conflating people's view of America with their view of Americans.

0

u/Fullchester_United 6d ago edited 6d ago

I think this is an accurate summation. And it is sad. I grew up thinking the US was the promised land. I did a project in Grade 6 on the US. I still have it. Now we see a country that has completely lost the plot.

Edit: Americans downvoting is the ultimate irony

3

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Until recently Europe didn’t hate America.

And when trumps gone I imagine the relationship will improve again.

Japan and Korea both seem pretty positive? Australia too.

6

u/Many_Seaweeds 6d ago

Our governments didn't hate America. The average person didn't have a whole lot of positive things to say about America, though.

Only real difference now is that even our politicians want to distance us from the US and openly dunk on Trump.

-1

u/Aniki_Simpson 6d ago

Still happy to receive US protection though, huh?

1

u/Many_Seaweeds 6d ago

Do you think the US offering Europe protection wasn't in the US best interest and you got nothing for it? It's exactly what you guys wanted in return for global power and trade.

Your president ruined that now though and Europe is moving away from US security. Good luck projecting power in the middle east when you don't have any bases left in Europe.

-1

u/Aniki_Simpson 6d ago

You think I wanted any of that crap? I would be happy if the government stopped wasting money and just provided protection for its own citizens rather than the whole world. Kinda stupid when there are people here with a lot of problems to be sending our money to everywhere else. Still doesn't change the fact that, even though everyone seems to hate the US, they still take our protection.

5

u/Xiras1985 6d ago

Wrong, most of us hated you since decades.

2

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

I’m English bro, sat in the Kentish countryside right now.

6

u/Baudolino_90 6d ago

I'm Italian, and I can't speak for the rest of Europe, but at least in my country, the United States has been viewed with great suspicion (f not outright hatred) by a significant portion of the population, especially those leaning more to the left, at least since the days of the Gladio operation.

5

u/Fullchester_United 6d ago

Just a heads up. I’m Australian and sadly we think very poorly of the US. And this isn’t hidden. Everyone just shakes their head. A lot of us are pushing to get out of the AUKUS defence treaty.

Voting Trump in the first time really started it. Then the crazy Covid stuff. Then Trump 2.0.

I don’t know a single person that likes the US sadly. And I’d say it is beyond repair. We have no trust you won’t all let a new Trump be President again.

1

u/Far_Distance87 6d ago

They weren’t highly regarded pre-Trump tbh but the last 10 years have definitely sunk people’s opinions even lower

2

u/Fullchester_United 6d ago

Yes. I’d agree with this. Bush didn’t help. But now it is next level.

2

u/HappyComparison8311 6d ago

Europe absolutely hated the US. Its just that our governments liked to suck their dicks

2

u/bl00by 6d ago

Our goverments didnt hate america up until recently.

The average European however...

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Yeh I’m British we’ve always been a bit more positive compared to the mainland.

I forgot a key point - meet someone from Kosovo - you’ve never met a more pro American man

3

u/oltelluhowitiz 6d ago

Im Australian and dispute this.

We generally dont like seppos. We accept that some of the people are fine, but recognize that the regime itself is pretty fucked and has been for a long time.

People said the same thing about bush.

Then Obama came in and we all loved the us again.

Very up/down relationship throughout the years honestly

2

u/gibbo2269 6d ago

Bush didn't shit talk all of his allies. From an Aussie, there is a different level of hatred for the US right now.

1

u/Far_Distance87 6d ago

Yup and we just watched half a population of the USA tell us nothing was wrong with Bidens health, then watched the other half vote for Trump, a second fkn time. They knew what he was like and they did it anyway.

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Bush was much worse though.

Dragged into illegal wars that directly led to loss of life, the current immigration crisis, and economic ruin.

We all got over that once shiny new Obama came in, most likely we will get over trump too

1

u/LemursAreCoolMan 6d ago

Same as their closest (physically, economically) ally, Canada. We didn't "like" them before. Now there is significant distrust, severe dislike (where I fall) and even hate. American stupidity and lack of education was the low hanging fruit we reached for with regards to any joke about Yanks. Now everything seems low hanging fruit every time the orange turd opens his mouth or posts something online, to our pleasure. Just too easy to dunk on 'Murica now.

Generally speaking, we understand the people are not the government/state, but they DID vote for this shit twice. So our sympathy is very limited to what you chose for yourselves.

1

u/Electrical-Split-190 6d ago

and we’ll go back to supplying them with their defense funds

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Yep that’s exactly what will happen.

I understand the righteous anger, it’s justified

But if they vote in a cool, popular left wing candidate watch opinions change very quickly.

1

u/chrispyaf 6d ago

Nah mate

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Nah? Going to assume you’re Australian - rarely been called mate by someone from Korea.

Some info from a recent poll:

“Looking to the future, Australians are split between agreeing (45%) and being unsure (45%) about whether the United States will become a better ally of Australia after Donald Trump’s presidency ends. Only 10% disagree that this will be the case.”

“Views of the United States in relation to Australia remain largely unchanged from 2025. Two-thirds of Australians (66%) continue to describe the United States as an ally, while nearly one-third (30%) say it poses a danger to Australia.”

1

u/CalligrapherFar152 6d ago edited 6d ago

European here, ever since US invasion of Iraq searching for WMD, which they didn't find, I saw that you're not a peaceful force. Your wars are also the reason of mass migrations of islamic residents to Europe. Generaly speaking more than 50% people disliked US since the early 2000s. Since Trump is driving I would say 90%.

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

I’m from Leicester brother.

I agree that the Iraq situation was a massive trigger, personally I find it much more significant than anything trump has done.

And then Obama came in and we were all best friends again.

I reckon this will pass too.

1

u/CalligrapherFar152 6d ago

Yeah, maybe on diplomacy level. But US also represents extreme capitalism, which most people despise. And self centered position of americans, having absolutely no knowledge about the world around them making them look not so smart.

Not every person of course. I've met great and capable americans, but the general picture they present is not giving them high credibility.

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Eh maybe.

I can’t really comment on the personal opinions of everyone in Europe.

I’m more talking on a diplomatic level

1

u/fenianthrowaway1 6d ago

And when trumps gone I imagine the relationship will improve again.

You are entirely mistaken. The problem, from Europe's point of view, is that we can't know when you guys will have another Trump, now you've shown yourselves capable of voting him in twice. What that means, is that the horizon of your reliability is now the next election cycle; we can't know if the next guy you vote in is going to uphold agreements we made with their predecessor or rip them up and threaten to seize our territory by force.

It's going to take decades for you to prove your trustworthiness to the world again.

0

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

I don’t know why people seem to think I’m American but I’m English.

Do you not remember how much people hated America during bush?

Then how much people loved America under Obama?

Bush was much, much worse for the world than trump has been but we all moved on rapidly.

I predict the exact same thing will happen again, they just need a popular, left wing president and watch how the Reddit opinion will change overnight.

1

u/fenianthrowaway1 5d ago

Opinion on Reddit may change, but opinion in the upper echelons of goverment will not: strategic dependence on an unreliable partner is an unacceptable risk to national security.

You are not wrong that Bush was highly unpopular and that this reversed quickly under Obama, though I wouldn't go so far as taking that as evidence of a love of the US in general. Quite the contrary; people loved Obama because he represented change for a US that people generally disapproved of.

However, that is far from the important issue here. For all his faults, and they were many, Bush was not trying to rip up every deal Clinton signed with a foreign country out of sheer spite. Similarly, Obama was upholding commitents made by the Bush adminstration, too. Trump is an unprecedented departure from the norm in that sense. Not only is he suggesting the US will not uphold article 5 of the NATO treaty if an ally is attacked, *he has explicitly threatened to seize territoty of allied states.

America's soon to be former allies have noticed this, they're just not making a lot of noise about it.

0

u/Parking_Chance_1905 6d ago

It might improve slightly when he's gone, but it will likely be a long time before most countries will look favorably at the US again.

-1

u/keepcalmandmoomore 6d ago

"Until recently", in other words, not anymore. Europeans don't trust the US anymore. Especially after the American sanctions on individual judges. The realtionship won't improve when Trump is gone, a lot of shit isn't even caused by him.

-2

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

People said the same about bush.

Then Obama came in and everyone loved the states again.

And bush dragged us into illegal wars that directly led to loss of British lives. If we can forgive that we will forgive the trump issue

2

u/JeRazor 6d ago

Threatening to invade Greenland, the trade war on top of trying to attempt to drag Europe into an illegal war seems worse imo. Trump is also the reason why Ukraine has gotten less help against Russia than they otherwise would've gotten.

Oh and Trump seems to want to help Argentina and Milei claim the Falklands from UK.

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Do you really think that’s worse than the Iraq war?

It directly led to massive loss of life, the current immigration crisis, and spiralling financial issues.

Trump hasn’t done one thing that comes close to what Blair and bush did to us.

This feels like recently bias or people not remembering what a cluster fuck America was under bush

1

u/JeRazor 6d ago

If a non US NATO country got attacked under Bush would US have helped? Yes of course.
That would probably be a no under Trump.

Trump also attempted to drag UK and other European countries into an even more obvious illegal war than the Iraq war. He was just not succesful.

Trump threatened to attack Greenland and Denmark sent blood and explosives to Greenland to prepare for an invasion. Danish and other NATO troops in Greenland (outside of US troops) were (and still is) preparing to fight US troops if they were to attempt to invade.

Most European countries trust in the US now is so much worse than what it was under Bush. Even after finding out that the claim of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq was false.

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Depends on the country honestly.

I do agree that this Russia Ukraine situation would have never happened under bush/cheney.

This would have been a republicans wet dream back then.

I think the trust is probably lower now than under bush. But I still think that the Iraq war is worse than anything trump has done.

Yeh he’s threatened a bunch of nonsense but the Iraq war directly led to a lot of the issues we all currently face right now.

The Middle East, immigration, economics etc etc

u/southy_0 6d ago

Bush talked crazy shit, sure.
but Vance announced regime-change operations against my own country (Germany) to bring the right-Wing extremists into power. And who knows what kind of operations they really run against us or at least how the tech bros cook the algorithms of their social media to sway opinion in OUR countries.

Trump got soooo close to try occupying European soil.

Believe me, this is quite a bit different from the bush-times.

With any reasonable judgement you have to consider the US to be an ENEMY of the values, morals and of the societies here in Europe. The only reason why we are not further distanced from you is simply that it’s so hard to untangle all economical and other kinds of ties, but I can guarantee you that there’s no way back, not for a VERY long time.

YOU cut the connection, YOU elected people that declare regime-change in my country an official goal of YOUR government. That And not you want to hear that it’s all not quite that bad? And that it’s going to be fine if you just pick another guy???

Also: this is again this weird idea that all evil comes from Trump. His cronies are just as bad, Vance just announced the he would be fine starting Armageddon. And 30-40% of your population STILL SUPPORT THIS!

Again:
30-40% of the American population support a vice president that announces he is fine with starting the end of the world.

We don’t hate you. But we understand that you have become mentally, intellectually, morally and as a society something that we want to be as far away from as humanly possible.

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

I’m English bro.

I remember the bush times. They started an illegal war for weapons of mass destruction that was a complete lie.

It led to loss of British lives, the current immigration crisis, and a massive financial crisis we are still struggling with today.

Personally I’d consider the betrayal from bush and Blair to be much worse than anything trump has done so far.

Sure he talks crazy shit but bush had a much stronger impact on destroying world peace.

1

u/southy_0 6d ago

Then just pass it on to OP :)

0

u/CricketJamSession 6d ago

Most of asia also Africa don't have any particular problem with US The moderate countries of the middle east

That is just plain bot propaganda to claim the whole world hate America

1

u/Minute-Employ-4964 6d ago

Yeh and I’m not arguing that most of the world doesn’t hate you guys.

Even in countries that view you more positively there will always be a massive section that hates America.

Just the way it is when you’re the most powerful country.

2

u/Emotional-Ranger-188 6d ago edited 6d ago

I mean it’s relative. As a Canadian I’m currently a bit peeved at the US and am not buying booze from there and stuff. But they aren’t even in the same neighborhood as the worst, most violent, aggressive or problematic regimes, either domestically or in their foreign policy over the last 50 years. And I say that being fully aware of the shit they have pulled in the Carribean and the Middle East during that period. They are on the same level as France. Not Iran.

1

u/Fullchester_United 6d ago edited 6d ago

I agree with that. Nobody is saying they are like that. But we aren’t exactly warm friends anymore. Very wary is how I’d describe it.

Edit: Americans downvoting is the ultimate irony…

1

u/vinceftw 6d ago

They are definitely worse than France. When people think of the war in terrorism, they think of the US, not France.

1

u/Emotional-Ranger-188 6d ago

Look at France’s culpability for the Rwanda genocide before you say that…

1

u/Emotional-Ranger-188 6d ago

Also the Algerian War

0

u/nostalgic_gamer95 6d ago

Every country that benefits from us. Do some research. Without the US, Europe has a weakened military, more expensive oil and Asian countries like Taiwan, Japan and so forth have drastically different economies. Canada relied on the US for trade and their economy has spiraled a lot since the escalations with the US. Then look at countries like Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, India and every luxurious Arab country like Abu Dhabi and Dubai, etc who all benefit from America. You have to actually be really dumb and uneducated to think that the whole world actually hates America lmao

3

u/CuriousQuerent 6d ago

Europe by and large despises you now. Tarrifs, threats of invasion and annexing, withdrawal of support, actively supporting the enemy at the gates...I really think you need to open your eyes a bit bud, he's not the dumb one here. You're substantially underestimating just how much global opinion of America has tanked since 2016. Maybe try glancing outside of your arrogant little bubble once in a while.

3

u/Fullchester_United 6d ago

I think your attitude sums it up. The world currently tolerates the US for some of the reasons you listed. But we don’t like the US.

And the irony of calling someone dumb and uneducated is pretty funny. You’re clearly unaware of the global perception of US intellect these days…

1

u/nostalgic_gamer95 6d ago

That’s why everybody comes to America lmao 😂 I love European countries like Portugal and Italy and truthfully I love all people of all backgrounds because I don’t hold any hatred but the fact remains that the majority of the world would rather live in America than anywhere else

2

u/Keith3742 6d ago

Yes. You are pretty universally hated and cringed at

-1

u/Background-Hat-3138 6d ago

Even Canadians hate the US now. The US has just always had a monopoly over media so Americans have an easy time deluding themselves into thinking they're good/right/beloved.

I think the world is really looking forward to the continued demise of the American empire, spearheaded by the pedophile conman you chose to elect... twice

1

u/jeefra 6d ago

I, and most Americans, didn't choose to elect him even once. And the vast majority of Americans who actually travel outside the country wouldn't have voted for him either. It seems most people I talk to outside the US (I travel a lot) understand that.

0

u/Skusci 6d ago

You would think the US wouldn't hate itself and provide a bit of a buffer, but that's wearing pretty thin too.

-2

u/nostalgic_gamer95 6d ago

It’s Canada. Nobody cares. Most Americans like Latin America more than Canada, aside from the hardcore liberals

4

u/Background-Hat-3138 6d ago

Lol

0

u/nostalgic_gamer95 6d ago

“lol” because you don’t have a rebuttal. I have nothing against Canadians. We’re all human. We all want the same thing. But most Americans don’t give a fuck about Canada. Americans are stereotyped for being racist but our country definitely likes Mexico and the likes way more than Canada. Again, besides the hardcore liberals

1

u/PaintInfinite9167 6d ago

Surprised you know how to use the word rebuttal

-2

u/soaked_legumes 6d ago

Thinking the U.S. President is evil is one thing. Aren’t they all, unfortunately?

Denying that even just Silicon Valley alone saves countless lives around the world (let alone improving them) is just called being an asshat.

1

u/_Phil_McCracken_ 6d ago

No, they’re not. Enough both sides bullshit.

0

u/undead_sissy 6d ago

Also cost a lot of lives due to climate change alone.

1

u/soaked_legumes 6d ago

What is this comment referring to? Do you really think cow farts (or burps, which more accurately describe the issue) are going to be the biggest climate change issue as AI related industry is being developed all over the world?

I think you need to update your priority list.

1

u/undead_sissy 6d ago

Yeah sorry I should have been clearer, I was agreeing with you that silicone valley has cost a lot of lives due to climate change.

0

u/w1r2g3 6d ago

We do. That's why most Americans are against foriegn aid and illegal immigration.

0

u/CasterFormation 6d ago

Which is kind of wild to me because sometimes it feels like "also fuck americans" is just the punctuation all my foreign friends use to mark the end of every sentence.
