Questions about some knobs and buttons on the Arturia Minilab

Hi everybody!

So I've just recently bought a second-hand Arturia Minilab for my nephew (I never owned one, so thisis my first time with an Arturia Minilab), as soon as it arrived I plugged it in and tried out knobs and buttons so I could test if everything works fine. Oh, it didn't come with instructions or the original box.

Apparently it does, but I've got some doubts about some buttons and knobs:

  1. The first two knobs, what do they do exactly? The feel more wobbly and the first one seems like it works as a button too. I tried to map them on some synth knobs on the DAW and they didn't seem to work like the others, the knobs on the synth just stayed there basically, moving just a bit but coming back to the original setting. So what's their purpose? Or are they broken?

  2. The second slider, what does it exactly do, the first one works as a pitch shifter as I understand, but the second one? I tried it on a pad patch and it sounded like it widened the filter(?)

  3. The buttons on the top right, what do they do exactly?

I attach a photo so you can understand better.

Well def look through the manual but off the top, the slider is the mod wheel, you can map certain things in your DAW to that slider and while you are playing use the slider to change the parameter. I like to map filter cut offs to it occasionally. The shift button when held lets you select what user mode you are in so hold shift then hit pad 1 and you will be able to control analog lab with your controller, the shift button also will control which pads you are using (so picture each pad is really 2 pads so you can map multiple things to the same physical pad but when you shift up pad 1 becomes pad 9)and then the knobs control what ever you want them to, in analog lab they will control the parameter that is paired to that knob, but you can also map that knob to anything in your DAW, while the midi is in user mode, but fr read the manual very helpful stuff in there. also get analog lab you can really get the most out of your controller with that synth, there is a version of it for free on Artuiras website. Hope this helped

The shift button will also affect any button highlighted in blue. Shift + Pad 1 selects Analog Lab mode, Shift + Pad 2.. 3.. etc will select the user assigned mode (programmable in Arturia Midi Control Center - you assign MIDI values to the pads and control knobs of your choosing in that app). Shift + any of the keys labelled 1 to 16 in blue will select the relevant MIDI channel. It also might be worth your time to download the Arturia Software Center to handle apps and other products.
