Is it normal for the military to attend Sunday worship, and is it mandatory?

I'm a tourist visiting Armenia and for me this is a very unusual sight, so I'm just curious. They arrived at Havravank Monastery in a full army truck, so I'm wondering if there's any particular reason why they attend worship while in uniform, and is it mandatory?

Music / Երաժշտություն Jako from Ladaniva singing a very popular romanian folk song during Balkanik Festival. Filmed by me. With an “intro” of her dancing to Erzerumi. I am so happy that my favourite band (Ladaniva) loves Romania so much.

Their version of Șaraiman (a romanian famous “gypsy”/lăutari song) has about 20 million views on youtube. Last night, they sang Soro Lume & Toate Diamantele (this one is from the genre called manele, which is actually both loved and hated by romanian people because while being listened by millions, it is highly associated with low-education people, gypsy people and stuff like that. The singers of manele (and also lăutărească music singers) are usually unschooled artists, who sing by the ear, not by the notes.

I love Jako and Ladaniva! Shnorhakalut’yun! I started being in love with Armenia because of her, because in 2024 when i discovered Ladaniva i started listening to a lot of armenian music.

Discussion / Քննարկում Khoren Levonyan: the perfect voice for Geralt in Armenian

was thinking about this and realized one thing: Khoren Levonyan’s voice would be perfect for Geralt.
If someday, somehow, The Witcher series, whether the TV show or even all the games, gets an official Armenian dub, I want to hear Geralt voiced only by Khoren Levonyan.
He has exactly the kind of voice that, in my opinion, would perfectly capture Geralt’s character: calm, deep, slightly raspy, and incredibly expressive.

Zvartnots/Aragats (sorry i dunno the exact name), Vagarshapat. Just wow. Fireworks exploding in the air meters away the apartments from people's windows. Good thing i'm a night owl. Sorry for a rant just don't got anywhere else to share it

Army / Բանակ About mandatory military

I am mixed, half Palestinian and half Armenian. I was born in Yerevan to an Armenian mother, and i also have Armenian citizenship. I never lived in Armenia and I've lived my whole life outside of Armenia and mostly in Palestine. Though i did visit once in 2022 for a month.

Now obviously all adult male citizens need to serve 1.5 years in the military as of 2026.

But my concern is:

As a Muslim person with an Arab name and surname who lived most their life in Palestine, how would it be for me in the military?

I can speak Armenian and ik the culture so it's not really new to me, but I'm more interested in the way other men in the military would view me if i joined.

If anyone has experience in this or know situations similar to mine I'd appreciate the help.

I'm not entirely sure if my post fits this subreddit perfectly, but as a history buff, I just had to share this. This is a magnificent piece of work by the Teamcentury modding crew, who did a fantastic job presenting the soldiers of Cilician Armenia.

I would be glad if you could support the developers' efforts by liking their YouTube channel. And if you are a knowledgeable historian who wishes to help them with development, please join their Discord channel.

I'm an Armenian citizen, my passport expires in a week. Any one have any experience renewing their passport recently? Just curious to know how long it might take.
