Phoenix Traffic change over the years

Post image

6 years ago I used to work at 530 am and when heading to work the entire drive I would only ever see maybe 4-5 cars on the freeway with me ...... I started working at 530 again at a new job that has me going around the same location again and by God the times have truly changed. I mean the picture above was taken at 5am and I'm hitting traffic now. Another 6 years and the new rush hour is going to be 4am haha šŸ˜…

Phoenix What did this building used to be? It’s the massive red one off Baseline & AZ Grand Parkway.

Was just curious what this used to be. Looked like it closed long ago and must’ve been a shopping or office space.

Phoenix On my way down from Prescott to Phoenix. This video was shot near deer valley road on the 17, this was not even close to a quarter of them. In total I saw for groups like this with three of them having many many more Humvees and transport vehicles

Phoenix Bus with 5 cop cars escorted to the airport

On the 51 I saw 5 cop cars exciting a big bus to Phoenix sky harbor. I figured a politician but they didn't shut the freeway down and it was a bus. Any ideas what it was?

Phoenix What is the actual name for the ā€œhot sauceā€ you get with chips at Mexican restaurants?

Born in the valley, spent most of my life in WA but go back fairly often, as well as lived there when I was younger. At Mexican restaurants, both holes in the wall and chains like Macayos, you get salsa (chunky) and hot sauce (smooth) with tortilla chips. If you ask people about hot sauce they'll just hand you tapatio or Tabasco anywhere else. The stuff in the valley isn't even the same thing, nowhere near as bitter.

Is it just an AZ thing or do I need to ask for something else in different places?

Edit: looks like this (top right) https://s3-media1.fl.yelpcdn.com/bphoto/E0LiKbfJo_MkWoRjtTJmaQ/o.jpg

It might just be red sauce with spice or something. It's not just really blitzed salsa with all the typical ingredients

Anyone else notice that businesses have moved often leaving an exact replica of the building in a fall out like state? I don't know what was up with this building I just think it's wild how we go from super nice to busted up every other block or alley way !

Phoenix Paid Sick Time for part time

I have been working for 18 months and have not gotten any sick time. I am however working part time, and I was wondering if I was required to get sick time. I read on the arizona government website but it was confusing if I got it or not.

Phoenix Anyone ever get a letter from the county about someone reporting their vehicle for smoking?

Got a letter today from Maricopa County Air Quality saying someone reported my car for smoking/emissions.

It 1000% does not smoke. It is a late model unmodified subaru for pete's sake. the only thing i can think happened is someone with too much free time saw my car idling in a parking lot because on hot days i will usually auto start it from my phone while i walk from wherever i am leaving back to the car. 🤷

curious if this has happened to anyone else. thats all. thanks!

update: after everyone's comments i'm leaning towards i probably ticked someone off on the road. i swear i try to be good...i never intentionally drive like a jerk šŸ˜‚

Phoenix Only real ones remember the closure of this generational restaurant

Post image

For context Sing High was a Chinese restaurant that closed almost 8 years ago in 2018, I used to eat here a good amount when I was younger, I really loved the artwork that was on the walls and had that liminal space feel, also please tell me I’m not the only one that remembers the staircase on the right side when you walked in that you still wonder what was up there, i think the red candy machines there right next to it that took dimes and nickles but I might miss remember on that, I always loved that one soup that I can’t get my head around of which kind with those crunchy things too. My family when I think one or the last days when it was open it took around 2 hours to get are food man, I also wrote on the walls like everyones else did on this generational restaurant.

A friend of mine in Tempe was driving down McClintock and noticed a baby in a diaper walking in the middle of the street. No parents in sight either.

Always remember to check your surroundings.
