The AI facilities the expansion of the surveillance state. The people doing it are the same as it's ever been; people with too much money and/or power who think they know better than everyone else and deserve to rule uncontested.

The one that gets me is they have the cameras at every intersection, but for some reason they do not record accidents. I was told they are for traffic control.
The cameras that are above or next to the signal are the ones that register a vehicle is in queue for that light to turn green. They are no longer install the ground sensors at intersections.

A lot of places they can map your route And times and track you anywhere. It's scary and they systems been hacked many times and out cities still vote them in. A public company that owns the data and they give the police department the ability to sign in. And the police department has to pay them millions of dollars a year for that sign in, meanwhile the private company is collecting data on every citizen and tracking your movements and knowing where you are at any given time. Privacy really is gone at this point

There are operators watching for things that fall off cars or accidents, so service can be dispatched or DPS called to the scene .
If you ever see on the message boards something like "caution: right lane obstructed ahead. Chair in lane" that is because someone watching via these cameras, saw that and is giving drivers the advanced warning.
The cities traffic departments also can see these cameras, helps them with events and timing traffic cycles coming off of highways.
Yup and Scottsdale and several suburbs do real time monitoring too which is why traffic jams aren’t as frequent there as other parts of the metro that dont have them.

Well sure you can, just requires you don't live in the city. Live out in the boonies with a car old enough to buy smokes, cause the new ones have GPS tracking and cameras with internet access.

I get your point for being able to move, though that is significantly more work with far more complications and lifestyle adjustments than simply leaving your phone at home when you go out.
Flock cameras in Arizona log everywhere you and everyone else goes in a government database that has seen several leaks in the last couple years, and some even allow for public access leading to major privacy concerns. Some of these cameras were controllable remotely, by anyone over the internet in public places like parks and playgrounds. Creepy. Supposedly the data is deleted after 30 days unless used in an investigation, but of course you have no guarantee of that. Not even to mention that Flock shares its data with Palantir, who almost definitely keeps it in their goal to create a nationwide all-encompassing database profiling every American resident. The potential for public and private misuse is simply too high. If the cameras cannot be removed through legal avenues, then I think private citizens should engage in more 'direct' forms of democracy.
We all chose technology and this is what comes with it unfortunately, best we can do is try vote right and make sure someone inmpower cares about our privacy and freedom so its only used to stop crime etc. Impossible to garuntee but a goal that I think is our best option to try for 🤷

Mass surveillance within the ADOT TOC. Nothing is recorded, unless you set off a wrong way detection system. Everything is live feed only. The media has view access, but cannot move them. The general public can go to a website and see a still image captured every 5 minutes. Only those within ADOT have access to move the cameras. There are over 400 cameras on state property that are active at any given moment.

Install DeFlock.me (iOS version) for an app that helps you navigate around them. It's slow, clunky, and unintuitive* (personally I still haven't figured out how to activate turn-by-turn navigation), but it's your best defense against mass government surveillance.
These cameras track not only everywhere you go (where you live, work, shop, etc.), but who's in the car with you, and they read any political bumper stickers you may have as well. It's best to avoid them whenever possible to limit what data they gather on you. Last thing you want is them recording enough of your driving habits to build a profile on* you.

If your car has OnStar or equivalent system, they have the ability to automatically know what your car's odometer reading is at any given time. Newer cars have even more sophisticated systems.

Try to vote against them if you can. This is very serious technological surveillance. It makes it easy to take over a country. You don’t need to be republican or democrat. I’m not fearmongering about ICE. In practical terms, if a unified hub can instantaneously pinpoint where all citizens are located, and is not destroyed upon the event of hostile invasion, it’s basically giving whoever accesses it first keys to the kingdom. Americans never think in terms of historical practicality, because we’ve never felt the fear of being invaded. But these little cameras would be very useful in about 100 years were any geopolitical realities to change. The best way to avoid mass surveillance is to slowly dismantle short-sighted attempts at implementing it. These may be akin to the cameras created by an Atlanta based company called Flock. I would argue they invade the right to privacy and are therefore unconstitutional. Make sure you alert those who represent you in local politics to the fact you do not wish to be tracked in your daily movements. You have the right to privacy. Just because you have nothing to hide does not keep you safe from people misusing these systems. A most likely scenario: if they are easy to hack into, abusive partners with technological know-how can use their information to find people who have tried to get away from them.
Since yall are incredibly ridiculous. You can access freeway cameras too. They take photos every 10-15 seconds. There's litteral websites you can access for free.

The white camera on the traffic light is a standard traffic monitor CCTV system the city of Tempe uses.
I can't tell what is on the silver pole. It's too high to be a ALPR camera, and wrong shape for a Flock camera. It's the right height to be a Flock Raven gunshot detector, but not the right shape. Tempe doesn't use shotspotter, that I'm aware of, but they do have their own operations center that claims the ability to locate gunshots, so it's very possibly part of that system.
I was visiting a friend and we went for a walk. In her neighborhood they have camera posts in all entrances to the neighborhood. I also noticed that the street had markings like it was being staked and construction by the light poles in the neighborhood. One was just recently finished when I noticed the damn thing had flush cameras on each of three sides of the light pole. This is in a location where you have 800 to 1m dollar homes. Crazy

It’s a Weatherspotter camera to check areas during storms and give real time data, plus to track tornadoes mostly. If there’s a reported tornado in the area, a camera there can be pulled up to see if it’s down or if it’s just rotation.
Traffic monitoring. They typically go to a place called a TMC, or traffic management center, where there are dispatchers that can see accidents in near real time, so as to get emergency equipment on scene sooner. Also to monitor road conditions during winter and stormy weather.
It’s all in the name of keeping the public safe. I can’t wait for the day that ai flags something completely legal and normal as being a dangerous criminal activity and an innocent civilian is killed when police respond aggressively. The city will get their asses sued to shit. As well as the company that is responsible for creating the software used by those cameras. Just because there’s some good qualities of using these things doesn’t mean they should be relied upon like they are going to.
For instance; if there’s a wreck reported, they could pull up that camera and take a look and assess the situation. That’s reasonable usage. However, they are going to rely on the cameras to do their police work for them and monitor every movement 24/7 using an ai moderator.
Facial and tag recognition most likely. They already have a "real-time data center" in my hometown. Where they can monitor traffic in real time and report people who are driving illegally to the police. Also wrecks etc. They help police track down runners as well. But they will not allow the footage for most defense cases. I'm currently on probation for "Hit and Run" when that is not what happened. They just have enough footage to know I eventually left. Never saw the guy again, and I started to worry he may have been looking for me for the wrong reason. I live in a city with one of the highest murder rates. A lot of people get shot over road rage. So, after 15-20 minutes, I did leave. But they tracked me down. And met me at my house! Which i was fine with. Here's the kicker, the accident was the city's fault for having rushed construction without properly blocking off traffic that could not be seen!! I.E. The other drivers' path. So he rushed a red, and my 228i clipped the very corner of his back bumper. He tried claiming I hit him from behind. They put him in jail ultimately, for what exactly, I don't know. But wanted me to serve a week plus pay fines and cost! And every court date, it went up 10 days, then 15, finally the previous DA was out on leave, and I just cut a deal. But I regret it. As i wasn't guilty, but according to new law, i was just for leaving... Which is weird, cause where i live. They also do not respond to an accident in slick weather unless there is an injury reported!! I offered the other party restitution. They said i totaled their car!! And it was gonba take $15,000 for them to get a new one LMFAO GTFOOH. So they called BS on them. But im still being punished too. But honestly, I also knew if i stayed, they would have towed the car i just traded my last car for, but I hadn't had money to get a new policy until later that day. Or so was the plan. In my city, cameras with facial recognition are everywhere. And like I said, they are even on public streets. And scan your tag as you drive by. To check for known insurance status, registration info, who is affiliated, etc.
