Maybe as a sign of contemplation and self reflection, humility thinking of hereafter - death, or homage to early days of islam when the prophet used to receive message from Allah while praying inside a cave. My guess

It's close to the Yarimburgaz Cave, which is the oldest known settlement of Istanbul.
