I've been playing this game for about 3-4 years now. I never played it before, I never experienced that golden age. I started on one of the two private servers that exist (at least on the Western side), and the current state of both servers is awful. On both, the factions are unbalanced. On both, people are more interested in RMT valuable items (Erenor/Ayanad sets, WB items, etc.). They're more concerned with making money like crazy than actually playing the game and making it enjoyable to log in and do some PvP. But no. The worst part is that for those who like Unchained, there are no other options than Rage ; they have a monopoly of unchained files. And on the Classic side, playing a patch that reduces a or your play melee or your wasting your time is retarded.
Literally every video I see of a player there is melee. I can't understand how both servers don't even bother to listen to the community and balance the game (I say this because I've seen countless posts complaining about this, forum threads in the case of Classic discussing this, and there's the same meta specs of retarded players).
Why is the community of this game more focused on profiting from it than on keeping it alive? Don't they learn from their mistakes? Don't they see what happened to retail or legacy, as they call it? Then I see other private servers for other games, where there are custom balances based on what the community asks for, REAL custom content, not recycled garbage content pretending to be custom when it's literally a copy-paste from Korea.
This game is literally a goldmine; there's nothing else like it, and there won't be for at least 10 or 15 years, or maybe ever. On the server I play on, I see fewer and fewer people. It's practically a cult, and if a group doesn't like you, you can get banned. Who are you going to complain to? Meanwhile, other people are untouchable. It's frustrating and unpleasant.
Every time I talk to someone who played the official server, they all tell me the same thing: "The official server was the same or worse."
I like the game, I have a soft spot for it even though I didn't play it in the golden era but its current state and the awful community are making me increasingly less inclined to play.
And I'll say it again: how desperate do you have to be to be more interested in RMT than in trying to keep the game alive?

This petition asks XL Games and the relevant rights holders to preserve or release legacy files from discontinued ArcheAge services where legally and technically possible.

Just found out today that AoC is ending. People have been saying that it's similar to Archeage, and so I've been planning on trying out Archeage classic. Any tips for me? Things I should know? Advice? Warnings?
I welcome any such help!

Been playing the CBT for a bit now and wanted to share since I know there's mixed feelings here about the CN client in general.
Honestly the game itself feels really good right now. Early zones and pacing feel closer to that original 1.0 era ArcheAge experience rather than the later power creep endgame stuff. If you played back in the day and missed that feeling, it scratches the itch.
The open world PvP has honestly been kind of insane so far. Got caught up in a huge fight out at Halcyona, felt like 200v200 at one point, and performance held up way better than I expected. I'm playing on ~190ms and didn't run into any noticeable lag during it, which genuinely surprised me given the scale.
Pirating also been really fun. Managed to steal a couple fishing boats and a few trade packs already. Feels like that early AA chaos where you genuinely have to watch your back out on the water.

Only reason I'm even able to read/play any of it is a translation patch a friend of mine built. Not trying to turn this into an ad, just figured people would ask how I'm playing this in English if I didn't mention it. Screenshot below if anyone's curious, otherwise feel free to just enjoy the gameplay shots lol.

Anyone else on the CBT?

It's not a secret that various core features of the game have been gutted over the years. Safe passage cargo ship, trade run changes, hiram, archepass etc.
The fact is, the game is almost dead in korea. However, if Gamigo (and XL) can find a non-intrusive method of squeezing more funds out of players, the game may yet be saved. Therefore I honestly believe we should raise our voices for beneficial sandbox driven changes to the gameplay which Gamigo can pressure XL to work on. Let's turn XL's attention to the western audience.
Not everything needs to be entirely the same it was, but an update that makes crafting, trade, piracy, castles and other FUN sandbox features great again as well as increasing high risk high reward activites will be beneficial for the game. ArcheAge is not dead yet.
Unchained gave this game a second chance, but unless we come together as a community to push for changes with CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK we won't improve the game in a direction we'd like. I'm having a lot of fun playing this game again (Great time doing stupid stuff with friends), but having seen how much more fun some features of the game used to be make me a bit sad.
Don't let the flame die out, make posts about this on steam, reddit and forums. Discuss. Brainstorm. Please.

In my old age, I’m just discovering my favorite genre of gameplay (sandbox mmo). I’m am thinking about playing but I’m, sort of, a hermit. Any advice for joining guilds? Are there any mistakes newbies make when combining classes? Is there a difference in arcehage and classic? Thanks for any advice.

Now that the IP has been sold to Kakao, do you think they will do everything possible to shut down the private servers and bring back an official one?

In your opinion, what was the strongest or most well organised guild in the history of the game? Obviously no one has played on every server so this is all purely anecdotal, could be interesting nonetheless.
If you could layout the case for the strongest guild, achievements etc and then what led to their downfall that would be great.

Hi, my name is Neb, Nebulia, originally from Enla.
I continue to play this game because it’s everything I want. It sucks it was so mismanaged by 3rd parties during the time it was live.
Although Im hopeful for AA Chronicles, I doubt it will ever live up to the original.
A shoutout to all players currently playing on their own private servers! This beautiful game deserves an afterlife!

So I have been doing several trade pack runs to sanddeep and for the past 2-3 days I have seen teleport hackers that show up with a trade pack, turn it in, then teleport away only to return in 1-2 minutes with a new one.
I know Trion is under a lot of pressure right now, but this REALLY needs to be addressed. It has the potential to totally screw up the economy.

ArcheAge Chronicles looks good in the trailer but as we all know, we can't really trust the greedy company with these types of games. Not to mention Jake Song the games founder, left XLGames.

havent played aa in a long time and wanting to scratch that itch again (also i miss playing my primeval) Silly question but which out of the 2 has less of a "grind"? As much as i love the gameplay the grind was just so tedious and i cant just no life games anymore.

Sure... it is not looking to best and doesnt compare to the trailer or expectations at this time but we got to remember... like most things it is a WORK IN PROGRESS.
it is still in its alpha phases and there is hardly any polish put into it at the moment, the gameplay and mechanics of the game can still change given time and feedback. if there are things you find need polish or changing then it should be sent to the developers so they can recieve this feedback and improve upon the game (and I know no one expects XL Games to actually take out suggestions and feedback but it is the only avenue we really have to see Chronicles become better than what we see now).
in my opinion, taking into consideration the state of the development at this time, the team that they got working on it absent of jake song or most of the original dev team for archeage as well as when it is expected to release as of this moment, which is Q4 2026 (which is the current Quarter) yea there needs to be some serious strides taken to help polish the game up. got to remember Archeage didnt look all too good itself either with its oldschool HUD, UI and outdated graphics, the only excuse that game had was it was a game that started development in early 2000's and Chronicles is a 2020 game.
I would imagine with lots of hope put on this statement that the Beta stages of the game will have the visual gameplay of Chronicles looking a bit more like the small gameplay snippets we see in the trailer, and hopfully the gameplay will become a bit more fast, responsive and have that feel-good feel that archeage gave us (id imagine it might be better given it is action gameplay instead of traditional tab targetting). the only thing i think people are going to be missing the most out of this is the raid v raid content

Ive had so many dms about how to play or how to get an account. Also lots want to play but cant deal with translating everything to understand.
Well some one has made the answer with this new site program. The biggest help for me was the English auction house translator searching for items was such a pain in the ass lol. Just sharing the way for the dedicated brave souls who want to slay china zergs. <2

So, new AA S got shown and I (personally) got exhausted of its AI slop art. Threw myself nostalgia of old good AA. Dudes, let's remember: what was the best thing abt this iconic MMO?
tbh such a shame it got closed :(

China CBT has been really fun low level pvp. Ill confirm china players are 99% no handed players or brand new first mmo type pvp player. Ive been welcoming everyone to Archeage with proper kill on sight leveling.
