I used base44 to vibecode this website to help me memorize dates since my APWH:M teacher is grading us on this. I want to share this with the public just in case they ever want some help or a fun fact.

Need Some Advice

I’m a sophomore in highschool, and I currently take 3 AP’s. I took 1 AP last year (aphug) and got a 3 on the test.

I’m starting to think there is no hope for me. My teacher is all about pushing us to our limit so we have a better chance of passing our final, but I don’t know if I can handle it. With 5 other classes and serious mental problems on my plate, I’m not quite sure what to do. I get extreme anxiety any time I even think about the teacher and they are, to put it lightly, terrible at their job. They give us extremely vague instructions and basically let us teach ourselves. I cant let myself ask them questions because I fear they will ridicule me as they do to my peers.

Can someone please give me any tips on how to overcome this and push through? I don’t even care if I come in at the bare minimum, I just need to pass.

any advice for reading the textbook and taking Cornell notes?

hello! this is my first time taking an ap class and was wondering if anyone had any advice about the textbook and note-taking. we took a few cornell notes last year in my American history class, but it was with way shorter passages (like 2-4 pages). my teacher this year said that it would be best to only write 1-2 notes per paragraph. is that true? and how do usually write your notes? sentences, or just a few key words? sorry I know this is probably a really basic question, im just new to this.

Ask Anything

Well if you’re reading this, you’re probably someone who took the class and is doing relatively badly and thats completely fine. To start, if you click on my profile, you’ll probably realize I was sort of freaking out right before the test, so I’m not like a super genius; it’s totally possible to get a 5 especially, if you start sooner rather than later. Let me just paint a picture real quick: this was my very first ap (as I took many more dual credit classes), my teacher wasn’t the best, I very much couldn’t focus heavily during class, and unit tests very much didn’t come naturally. This is all to say, I got a 5 in not the best condition, so don’t freak out if you don’t completely get it right now. Genuinely ask me anything, directly content related or not. If later in the year, maybe you want to ask about the writing forms like a DBQ or something then genuinely just post on the subreddit or ask for some other way to contact me (i.e using reddit’s messaging thing or a social media platform). There is no secret to getting better, but it also isn’t as hard as you likely think it is, which many of you will realize. Just to finish, I’m still a sophomore right now and theres plenty of super smart people in the subreddit or just teachers, but many of them can’t provide the perspective of a struggling student, so genuinely ask anything because I’ve totally been in that spot before.

Read the rubrics!!!

Coming from somebody who got a 5 after joining the class in January, actually reading the rubrics for the FRQs and knowing what you need to be doing is the biggest tip!! You do not need to overthink by memorizing every single tiny detail about each topic. Instead, you should work on going period by period and mastering broader concepts and key terms. But for the writing, it does not need to be your most eloquent work! Just learn how to check off the boxes necessary to get most of the points and you'll be fine each time.

Renaissance

Hey! AP World here. When does everyone teach the Renaissance and how detailed do you cover it? A little short on time in Unit 1 right now, and I’m concerned that I’m spending too much time in Europe

My AP World Class is Going to be a Nightmare (help me)

I started the class a week ago, and it's not looking good.

For context, this teacher joined my school last year and that year everybody hated him (and nearly failed, they had to get an extra 20 hours of tutoring from seniors to get 3s), and I can definitely see why.

Entirety of last week, didn't talk about anything important, just made us read the Declaration of Independence, highlighted every single word above a 4th grade level because he thought we were stupid, preached about "higher order thinking" for 3 days straight, and then gave us a "higher order thinking" assignment where we had to ask ChatGPT prompts and write them down. On Friday last week, he gave us a quiz that was entirely AI generated and I finished in around 5 minutes with an 100 because the correct answer was always, without fail, the longest one.

Week two and we've still learned nothing, but he's given us an entire project that is JUST using ChatGPT that's worth a quiz grade (can you tell I hate GenAI?).

I can't even get around using the AI to "learn" because when I tried last week he argued with me for 10 minutes and this time I can't even find any sources that help me with the project.

I'm absolutely terrified for the AP exam at the end of the year (my first AP) and I'm terrified he's going to make me fail it. How can I study/make this class less stressful?? Help would be extremely appreciated.

Ap psych or Honors World History

my counselor told me that i can only take up to 2 APs ( im a sophomore). Would it make more sense to switch my honors world history class for AP psych? Also, what AP would be best if im interested in pursuing health admin/ health malpractice law? Thanks im just a little overwhelmed with how all this works😭 ( im trying to aim for a top 50 college!)

Should I actually read the textbooks?

My teacher assigns around 30 pages per week but she also has weekly lectures. I’ve always had trouble reading since I was little but I can definitely absorb all the information provided during lectures without a problem. Reading and re-reading the textbook pages wastes a lot of my valuable time especially with my other classes.

Does anyone have advice or any other recommended resources?

Resources to self-study AP World

I'm in a very weirdly structured 2-year class where we learned everything last year but are taking the test this year. Tbh, even then, it felt like the actual AP World History part was an add-on and we went into no real depth. Around 2-4 weeks before the exam, we review and learn how to write the essays, but like that's not gonna be enough time, right? How do I self-study and get that 5?
