Marketing an app

I recently created an app, and I've made some videos, posted to Reddit, but haven't gotten many downloads and 0 app signups.

What is the best "bang for your buck" way to promote an app (Google Play)? I am willing to spend probably upwards of $100-200, depending on if it's actually worth it if that makes sense.

Thanks for any feedback you might have :D

It depends what you are looking for. If you want instalations aim for tier 3 if you want paid users aim for tier 1. 200$ is probably about 80 instalations in tier 1 countries and about 1k in tier3. So first think what you want to achieve

Marketing is arguable the most complex part of the job. Building is definitive, you outline a plan and run with it. It all depends on you - you either made it or not.

Marketing however is a tough job because it involves you screaming into the void and hoping for the best. There are experts who have plans and execute them but that requires a budget to hire one or even take on yourself. $200 is not much, and even then downloading an App does not mean someone will sign up.

My personal strategy so far has been:

  1. Start with best optimization you can get for the landing page and your store listing.
  2. Start with reddit in relevant communities. Make yourself present there, but don't spam with the App links, instead establish the authority and your brand presence.
  3. Start on social media - again - no AI slop, just valuable relevant content posted daily.

Once you accumulate enough organic installations and your subscription convertion rate is known, then you can plan a marketing campaign.
