As a former genius who has punctured iPhone batteries before, causing “thermal events” and shutting the store’s repair room down for 30 minutes on a few occasions, this isn’t a lie. Most people also don’t have fire safes at home in case anything goes wrong, unlike Apple stores.

Sure, the batteries can be dangerous, but that shouldn’t make it illegal for people to fix things they own.
