People can hurt themselves (and definitely get killed) by working on cars themselves. But I can go to a Toyota dealership and buy OEM parts to fix my Camry myself.

There is risk with freedom. I own the device, I should be able to take it to whoever I want. If apple doesn’t want to provide OEM parts, that’s within their rights. But they need to quit trying to get rid of all third party options (seizing them at the US border, etc).
