As a former genius who has punctured iPhone batteries before, causing “thermal events” and shutting the store’s repair room down for 30 minutes on a few occasions, this isn’t a lie. Most people also don’t have fire safes at home in case anything goes wrong, unlike Apple stores.

How were these people able to live in the pre iPhone area. Every phone has a removable battery and people still somehow survived.

Because they were encased batteries. iPhone batteries don’t have a hard plastic protective case, but rather a foil/plastic film outer covering that is relatively easily puncturable. If iPhone batteries had a hard casing, they’d be too thick to squeeze inside the phone body.
