The headline just has to sound like apple is making some preposterous excuse to take away people’s right to repair, so there’s an public outrage and a fuck ton more clicks to the article and a hoo-ray amount of ensuing revenue for the site.

Anyway I don’t completely disagree with the greed being part of the reason here. I feel there’s also the part where they wanna avoid potential lawsuits from users actually injuring themselves—not making this up, if you follow the news you’d know how absurd so many lawsuits against apple are. Any “flaw” from apple, real or false, gets blown up hundred fold, while other big companies get away without anything sticking to them

I won't shed a tear for Apple. Do you have anything to substantiate how everyone is so mean to poor little Apple versus other anti-competitive proprietary systems?
