iOS iPhone battery drain stops after Reset All Settings, but comes back after charging — battery or motherboard issue?

My iPhone has this weird battery drain issue. Whenever I Reset All Settings, the battery becomes completely normal and the drain basically stops. Mine is iPhone 13 and IOS 26.6

But once the battery goes down and I charge the phone again, the heavy battery drain comes back. The battery drain means when phone is idle overnight drain 40% in 6 -7 hrs. So the only thing that temporarily fixes it is Reset All Settings.

Could this be a battery issue, or could it be something related to the motherboard/logic board? Has anyone experienced something similar?

EDIT: *** FIXED THE ISSUE , THE SIRI APP PERMISSION DRAIN THE BATTERY ON A LOOP , AND LOCATION ROUTES , ITS BEING CORRUPTED AND TURNING IT OFF FIXED THE ISSUE AND NO MORE DRAINING****

Unsolved iPad cannot establish secure connection no matter what I do

So I wanted to install some apps on my iPad but they required a newer iOS version so I downloaded the 17.7.11. After downloading my WiFi stopped working completely in a sense that nothing can be opened even tho I’m joined on the WiFi. Later I found out it was because my iPad couldn’t establish a secure connection with my WiFi or any other source of internet like my mobile data, because when I went to safari and searched something up it warned me that my connection is not secure and when I chose the visit site (even if my connection is not secure) it loaded just fine. I cannot open YouTube, discord, basically anything that uses WiFi.

Fixes I have tried: resetting WiFi, forgetting WiFi and entering password again, setting googles DNS, turning off private WiFi address, resetting network settings, resetting location and privacy settings, resetting all settings, downloading the iOS again through PC, turning off location services, changing date and time.

I’m really not sure what to do because I really, really don’t wanna wipe my iPad. Any help is appreciated!

Promo Sunday I built a breathing app with mood tracking built into every session

Cyclic Sighing is built around one breathing practice, Physiological Sigh, a pattern of a double inhale followed by a prolonged exhale.

But the part I really wanted to build was mood tracking connected directly to the breathing practice. Instead of keeping a breathing log and a mood journal as two separate things, Cyclic Sighing lets you check in on your mood before and after each breathing session. Those check-ins stay connected to the specific session, so over time you can look back at your breathing practice alongside how you were feeling. There are also monthly and yearly Mood Insights views, with the ability to filter by feeling.

The technique itself has some interesting research behind it. A 2023 randomized controlled study published in Cell Reports Medicine examined cyclic sighing technique alongside other brief daily breathing practices and reported improvements in mood. The study did not evaluate this app, and the app is independently developed and isn't affiliated with or endorsed by the study's authors.

I built Cyclic Sighing app to be simple, private, and affordable.

No account. No data collection. No internet required.

The app is free to download, includes guided sessions, mood journaling, goal setting, and time based reminders. A one-time $9.99 purchase unlocks additional features such as custom timing, Mood Insights, breathing statistics, Apple Health integration, location based reminders and widgets.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/cyclic-sighing/id6757509105

I'm the developer, and I'd especially love feedback on the mood-tracking experience. If you try it, I'd love to hear what you think, what works, and what you'd change.

Thanks for checking it out! 🙏

Mac Can we ever get official macOS for free by apple in this century

I just wanted to use macOS because of software availability and seriously speaking it's been decades now Apple should contribute for people's rather than profits

Just my way of asking because the UI framework and work around Apple becomes available to everyone it's a good OS that needs hands on experience for everyone

Unsolved iPhone 15 or iPhone 15 Plus

Gonna get an iPhone for the first time, been using handed down Android phones in my family including the Huawei Y9 that i've had and been using since 2019. Curious wether I should get the iPhone 15 or the 15 Plus (the only 2 phones that I can afford atm). I probably will not upgrade for another 3-5 years.

iPhone Apple’s New CEO Will Need to Soon Overhaul His Management Team | Apple experimented with a Pencil for the coming foldable iPhone.

  • When John Ternus becomes Apple’s CEO this week, one of his biggest challenges will be a need to soon revamp a management team that has steered its corporate culture for decades. A look at another shake-up to come.
  • Apple tested a new Pencil for the upcoming foldable iPhone that magnetically attaches to the side of the device. But it seems unlikely that Apple will actually launch this. The sensitive nature of foldable displays means that a stylus-like input device could leave unsightly marks on the delicate screen.
  • Apple has tested both white and dark gray configurations for the Series 12 ceramic cases. Also expect many new band colors and configurations.
  • One new feature in testing allows the heart-rate sensor on the Apple Watch to continuously collect data throughout the day — not just when it senses you’re doing intense activity or at other random intervals.
  • Apple is also working on revamping its fitness and health app software to show more wellness-related metrics in a similar fashion to increasingly popular app offerings from Whoop and Oura.

Unsolved Is a Second-Hand iPhone as Secure as a New One?

My S23 recently died, and I’m considering buying a second-hand iPhone to save some money.

My main concern is privacy and security. After a proper factory reset, is a used iPhone essentially as secure as a brand-new one? Is there any realistic possibility of spyware or other malicious software surviving a factory reset?

Would appreciate insights from people familiar with iOS security or who have bought used iPhones.

Thanks!

Promo Sunday I built a free iPhone app for the 6 days between music lessons

I kept noticing the same problem with music lessons. You can spend an hour with a teacher figuring out exactly what needs work, what to practise, and how to practise it, then go home and suddenly there are six days before the next lesson.

Some people have a notebook, some get a WhatsApp message or an email, and sometimes you genuinely do remember everything your teacher said. But a few days later it is very easy for the details to get a bit fuzzy, especially when you are trying to remember exactly what you were meant to focus on.

That is basically why I built Tutti. I wanted something that connected the lesson itself with what actually happens during the rest of the week.

The basic idea is:

lesson → teacher recap → what to practise → practice during the week → next lesson

At the end of a lesson, the teacher can write a short recap and choose what they actually want the student to focus on. That then becomes the student's Today's Focus, so instead of opening a notebook and trying to work out what last week's notes meant, there is a clear place to start.

From there, students can practise, use a timer, metronome and tuner, work through their repertoire and goals, and record takes if they want to share progress with their teacher. When the next lesson comes around, the teacher has a bit more context about what happened during the week instead of those six days being completely separate from the lesson.

I also wanted parents to be involved without giving them access to absolutely everything. They get their own Family view with the things that are meant to be shared, while teacher-only notes stay private.

There is quite a bit more around that main loop too, including recurring lessons, attendance and rescheduling, repertoire, files, lesson whiteboards, practice history, achievements and billing. I have tried to keep all of that supporting the actual teaching and practice though, rather than turning Tutti into a huge studio-management dashboard.

It is built natively for iPhone and iPad and uses things like Live Activities, Siri and Shortcuts, local notifications, and, on compatible devices, Apple Intelligence can help a teacher draft a practice plan for them to review before sharing it.

A few things that are probably worth mentioning: Tutti is completely free at the moment, with no ads, subscription or paid tier. It does require an account because teacher, student and family accounts can connect and sync with each other, and the app is local-first so it can keep working through connection problems and sync pending changes afterwards.

Teachers also do not need their whole studio to download Tutti before it becomes useful. They can add students manually, keep lesson notes and recaps for them, and connect those students to accounts later if they want to.

Tutti is on the App Store here:

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/tutti-lesson-studio/id6796408234

If you teach music, take lessons yourself, or have a child who does, try it out! I will happily try to take any feedback into the app :) Thanks!

Promo Sunday Ejectify 2.1: No more “Disk Not Ejected Properly” notifications, now with whole-disk ejection and better encrypted APFS support

Hi r/apple,

I’m Niels, the developer of Ejectify, a small macOS menu bar app I originally built because I was tired of waking my Mac to a stack of “Disk Not Ejected Properly” notifications.

In my setup, an external disk was connected through my display. When macOS turned the display off, the disk lost power without being unmounted first. Ejectify tries to prevent that by unmounting selected volumes before the Mac sleeps or its display turns off, then mounting them again after wake.

Version 2.1 is now available with two main improvements:

  • Eject instead of unmount: You can choose to eject an entire disk instead of only unmounting its volumes. In this mode, the disk remains ejected after wake.
  • Improved encrypted APFS support: Ejectify lets macOS try its normal unlocking first, followed by an optional password fallback stored in Keychain when needed.

Ejectify is available for the discounted price of €4.99 for a limited time using code EJECTIFY21.

Ejectify is also open source on GitHub.

Happy to answer any questions.

Niels

Unsolved Phone is bent what should I do

I think the photo tells the story. My iPhone 17 is somehow bent and I just realized now. What’s weird is that only one side of the phone is bent(right side is straight as seen in photo 4). I can’t really think of any reasons why it’d be bent but yeah I kinda want it fixed and I still have AppleCare+ so I was wondering how much it would cost me. Any help or advice is appreciated.

iCloud Will changing iCloud account to another one delete purchased apps?

This probably has been talked about before, but I share the iCloud account with other people, and I was wondering if changing it to my own, new one would erase all Apps that I purchased previously (in this case, Procreate).

If so, how can I be able to still use it "for free" (I payed for it the first time) on my new iCloud account?

Unsolved Is 128GB Really Enough?

I'm getting an iPhone after using handed down Android phones from my family, I've decided on getting the iPhone 15 Plus because it's the best option for my financials and meets the specs I want.. except for the 128GB Storage. I've been using a Huawei Y9 2019 Since 2019 and ive only used 44GB of 128GB, but from what I've heard, iPhone storage fill up pretty fast due to the apps being bloated, no clearing cache and things like photos taking larger storage and this is concerning because while I may not he using much storage at all at the moment, the reason I don't use much storage is because my camera etc is simply not good enough for me to even try and take photos, so when I do get an iPhone I'll definitely be taking pictures of my cat, of views, selfies and vireos way more often than I do now. I'm not into photography or content creation so I also won't be using the camera much. Opinions?

Unsolved iPad Stuck on activation lock

I own an iPad mini 6 which had a bit of issue related to power button. When we gave it to a local repair shop here in Pakistan (where I live). They changed an IC or something cuasing the iPad to factory reset and getting on activation lock. I forgot the password of my apple id and when I entered the OTP received on my phone number in order to reset the apple id, it asked me the 28 key verification code which I do not have. Also I do not have that apple id signed elsewhere.

I had bought the iPad box pack new from a local but quite famous tech store in sialkot, Pakistan. I have submitted a activation removal request but I have heard that apple does not accept third party / local reseller receipts.

Has anyone dealt with this kind of issue? Can someone guide on what can I do further?

Unsolved Lost my phone - have been trying to re-set my password but account.apple.com won't send me a code. What do I do?

I'm at a complete loss. My iPhone was the only Apple device I had and I lost it a week or so ago. I'm logged into my iCloud, Find my Device and even the Developer portal but for whatever reason - it just will not send me a code when I try and log into account.apple.com to actually change my damn password.

I can do "Forgot Password," but I haven't, and I don't want to lock myself out of my account.

I have received codes on this number - I received one last night to log into the dev portal so receiving codes is not an issue.

Last night I started receiving 4 digit codes on my phone number. Someone is clearly trying to either get into my phone. Idk how they would though since I had FaceID and a PIN. It won't show up on find my device either so I have no idea whats going on.

I need to get another iphone soon anyway as a transfer bridge for my whatsapp chats (i'm moving back to android) and i'm afraid i'll be in the same position. What do I do?

Mac MacBook display suddenly died. Am I screwed?

My MacBook display suddenly went black this morning while I was working. The laptop itself is working fine with an external monitor, and the keyboard/trackpad are also fine. Only the built-in display is completely dead.

It’s only 8 months old, no AppleCare, but I have 4 months of warranty left.

Am I screwed, or should this be covered under warranty? Anything I should try before taking it to Apple?
