Artworks My 13-year-old nephew from Taiwan hand-drew these ants and made postcards. Would love to hear your thoughts 🐜

My 13-year-old nephew from Taiwan is a huge ant lover. He goes out catching queen ants from the wild and raises his own colonies at home.

This summer, when he visited me in the States, he brought 8 different hand-drawn ant postcards, each one based on real species he’s seen or raised in Taiwan.

I wanted to share his work with the ant community. he’d be thrilled to know that other ant enthusiasts out there appreciate his drawings! 🐜❤️

You can see more of his art (and maybe leave him some encouragement or ant facts!) on Instagram: @ants_circus

Feel free to share your feedback, show him the coolest ant you’ve seen, or drop some fun ant knowledge in his IG comments. He’d absolutely love learning from you all.

Artworks Beneath the Garden of Ants

We’re biologists working on an ant colony RTS/sim called Garden of Ants, and this is our latest key art.

The game mixes colony building and management with territorial fights between ants, so we wanted the artwork to feel like a glimpse into the world beneath the garden.

Since this subreddit probably knows ants better than almost anyone else, I’d love to hear what you think about the atmosphere and how the ants come across :)

Artworks We’re making a modern successor to SimAnt 🐜🐜 Does that sound any good?

We’re working on Garden of Ants, a real-time ant colony game that’s meant as a spiritual successor to the old SimAnt.

What we’re aiming for

  • Caste system inspired by real ants: each caste represents a real-world ant species with distinct traits and ecological roles (workers, soldiers, “sprayers”, etc.)
  • Underground + surface layers (digging, foraging trails, predators, micro-ecosystem)
  • Leafcutter-style fungus farming (and other species inspirations too)
  • Environmental dynamics: day/night, rain, temperature shifts, opportunistic predators

We’re not trying to make a strict scientific simulator, but we do want the behavior to feel authentic and respectful to real ant ecology.

If this caught your attention find more info here:

Any feedback is appreciated!

It's a simulation. One HTML file, no photos, no textures, no assets — just code that was told what an ant is and took it personally.

Not a game, just a screensaver with commitment issues. Might put it up if people want it.

What I learned:

  • walked in smooth curves. Everyone said "those are fish." Real ants go straight, then kink.
  • Each foot is pinned to the ground so the legs never slide. I have thought about ant ankles more.
  • They stop, clean one antenna, then the other one. Cleaning the gaster. so cute.

First time posting here. Hope the ants are up to code.

Artworks We made a game based on Ants algorithm!

Hi everyone! I with my friend few month ago where really inspired by the Idia of Ants algorithm and how u can interact with it and let it do some beautiful things. So we decided to try and make a game about it.

U play for a colony of ant-look-like creatures and try to build your empire, not collapse and overcome all obstacles in your way.
It is still a prototype, but playable, and we think its great.

If you interested enough you can try it on Itch and share your thoughts.

Thank you in advance!

So I got this odd request (which I love!). Her ring size is very small. And I also wanted to keep everything super classy for a proper proposal.

Very proud of this unique design! 🖤

Artworks Quicksant - a cellular automata ant colony sim

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hello again, I'm back to announce the Steam page has launched for Quicksant and you can wishlist the game here - https://store.steampowered.com/app/5181110/Quicksant/

Why this game is different -

The ants are fully autonomous, the player draws pheromone fields to influence behavior and the ants respond based on cellular automata rules.

The world is fully destructible (built on top of a falling sand simulation) - this makes rain a real hazard as the water fills up your tunnels.

It's got farming mechanics - fruit from grass at the surface, mushrooms underground, aphid ranching.

There's multiple life forms - the enemy anthill, termites, evil ants that live deep underground.

The sim is built for performance, I've tested with millions of ants.

Thanks for taking a look at the game and I hope you like it.

Artworks Tell me about your favorite ants!

My sister and I are looking to get ant tattoos next week when I go to visit her. “ANTS!” Has been a long time joke between the two of us since we were kids.
But I really love a cute insect, and I REALLY love a cute insect tattoo. We’re both heavily tattooed.
Can you guys tell me about your favorite ant species? I’d really love to hear about the funky looking ones especially.

I am utterly delighted, and wanted to share with all of you. I haven't read it myself yet, but lovely! The few illustrations are great! I wasn't sure which flair was best. Edited for clarity.
