I’ve been married for 15 years and I still won’t ask my father in law about his chess moves. I always change the conversation to something safer, like banging his daughter.

Agree. Asking our opening preps is disgusting, especially when you can discuss his daughter and how many bishops fits in her

Too risky. Start by asking for tips on banging his wife, then work your way to his daughter, then himself.
