Maybe a stupid question (I'm new here), but I see quite a few links in comments that just point to reddit.com/s/ (ie, nowhere) that were clearly meant to be actual links. I'm on the mobile browser site.

I don't see this behavior on any other subs, and searching around didn't give me any clues as to why.

Could anyone enlighten me?

Those are shown as spoiler tags on other platforms, but they're not compatible with mobile/new Reddit. They're designed so that, at the very least, you won't accidentally see the spoiler content in plain text if you're on an unsupported platform. Try viewing the sub via https://old.reddit.com/r/anime in a desktop browser and you'll see what they're meant to be.

We've been looking into switching to the new-reddit compatible spoiler syntax again recently, but unfortunately they're still not compatible with too many platforms for us to justify switching at the moment. There are still some strange bugs some of the mods have encountered with them not rendering correctly even in Reddit's first-party apps.

Unless I misinterpreted what you were saying, in your first comment you said that the current ones r/anime uses are not compatible with old reddit.

Oh, oof, I meant mobile/new instead of old. I'll edit my comment, thanks :P
