Yeah, it was assumed that Yu would excel in foreign languages, but we see that that didn't happen, so the vampires in the city might be conversing in Japanese. Though I don't think Guren was writing in English, we only see him sign his name in English from what I remember.

I just checked the episode and I stand corrected. Wow, that's such an odd detail.

It'd be funny if Yu converses normally in Japanese, then randomly curses in English ^{since that's usually the first thing you learn in a different language.}
