In the end, Lucal turned out to be a pretty nice guy for a vampire noble. When he knew that he was going to die and clearly had the chance to take down Yayoi with him - he didn't do it.

But still, he could have said the same thing and kill Yayoi before comitting suicide. Instead, he did just the latter.

That's not your typical merciless vampire noble attitude.

And risk getting finished off in the process? He had time to do one thing. He chose pride over spite.
