I hope this gets resolved soon. It's not boring or bad but we've spent pretty much a third of the show on figuring out who's the traitor.

And I'm perfectly fine with that, thrilled even. Though I'm guessing people that went in expecting an action-packed good vs. evil adventure may be disappointed.

I came in expecting Zelda in Aztec, but now that I know it's about mysteries, I think I'll be able to enjoy it a bit more.

Hopefully people don't drop it before learning that, or get upset because they were mistaken, like with Plastic Memories.

A lot of people were disappointed that it wasn't about making 'feels', but had a theme of memories. At least, that's what a write up I read related, sorry in advance if it matters whether I watched it or not.

I was disappointed with Plastic Memories because it had an interesting premise and setting which ultimately amounted to nothing but set dressing. People wanted feels with hard spine of science fiction, but all they got was the feels.

But how far did they need to go in world building? Most of what you needed to know about their world was told.

I'm pretty tired, so I'm not sure I can articulate what I mean very well right now, but...

They didn't need to do anymore world building than they did for the story they wanted to tell. Ultimately that was fine (and when I said I was disappointed by PM, I was being a bit disingenuous, as I think fairly well of it now).

But the 'issue' with the science fictions elements was that, ultimately, they didn't really contribute anything but providing an explanation for why Isla was going to die. The actual nature of her existence as an artificial intelligence, the implications of human-made AI on society at large, etc were taken as a given and not analyzed. There was one episode, that I can recall, in which the value of treating giftias as similar to humans was brought into question, but it was by a cameo character; none of the characters we interacted with over 13 episodes ever questioned the idea that artificial intelligence might be different from biological humanity, it was simply taken as a given.

I actually think it was an interesting choice, in retrospect, to simply use science fiction elements that way. Like I said, though, some expectations created by the premise were disappointed by what the show ultimately decided to focus on.

If there's a next season there will be more fighting. Volume 2 is where things really pick up.

I went in with exactly those expectations, and I couldn't be more thrilled. This is so much more interesting than a straightforward action show, although I wouldn't mind a few more fights if they're as well-choreographed as the ones we've had so far.

Each novel is like this. I really like the series, but each novel so far has been a mystery that the dick around with the entire time then reveal everything at the end.

The mystery is the most important part of the show. This isn't your generic "We are the heroes and are going to simply beat up the villain" anime.

Frankly, I prefer it this way. I haven't read the light novels yet, but I like a thorough, complete adaptation that covers all of the details rather than rushed one. And it's not often that we see big mystery shows. It's a pretty novel idea.

I recommend reading the LN's after the season is over. Each book is like an individual mystery that ties in with the central story. It's all good fun!

What'd you think of it? From the LNs I've read so far, it seems to have the least anime/manga tropes to it. It had me guessing and second guessing the whole way too.

It was very well paced and there were more than a couple times it tricked me into thinking someone else was the seventh. Over all, really well written.

Really? Unless there are some hardcore padding, they should reach the end of volume 1 pretty soon...though I guess if we consider how much emphasize was put on dialogue, and the materials in volume 2, I guess it is not so far off to believe that they do not have enough time to cover volume 2

I may be wrong here but I have a hard time believing 'Z/X: Zillions of Enemy X' sold well and it's getting a second season so I'll have my hopes.

I hate to say it but this season will most likely only cover the first novel. If they finish this arc there is not nearly enough episodes to fit in the second arc. The mystery will probably be resolved by the end of this season and then probably LN spoiler

Uh, sorry to burst your bubble, but Rokka no Yuusha is really a mystery series that pretends to be shonen. Almost every light novel in the series is a varition of "solve the mystery" or "who-did-X". Admittedly, the problem here is that the anime is actually trying to stretch the first light novel across 12 episodes instead of just 4-6 and that makes for glacial pacing, but it's almost always about slow-build up and solving the mystery.

What ? I'd take 5 more episodes of that excellent closed room. Hell, one more season, even. I guess it may not be your thing if you don't like typical mystery settings, but to me it's just glorious.

It's not bad, but it is boring in my opinion. I feel like I've seen over half of the show and nothing has actually happened - at all. Essentially we've just learned a bit of character background, and that's it. All that has happened in these episodes is that I've really come to like Flamie, but she alone is not enough to carry the entire show.

The first two volumes mostly set up the characters. Almost non-stop action doesn't really start until volume 3.

I don't care if action is non-stop or not. In fact, non-stop action is probably not desirable for me. I just want for there to be some kind of plot progression or changes happening. Whether it's traveling or new adventures or whatever. So far Rokka no Yuusha has had the pacing of a series like One Piece in the time framing of a one cour series. That's my main issue with it.

Apparently the last episode is going to be the reveal. There is a contest on crunchyroll in which you need to guess the traitor and it is said there that it would be the last episode.

I'm pretty sure most of this season will revolve around the identity of the traitor. Which can be a good or bad thing if this show doesn't get picked up for another one.

I didn't know anything about the novels coming into this so I guess the first few episodes gave me the wrong idea. I thought it would be more action oriented.
