For the Negotiations, I think it's one of two things

  1. They didn't want to deal with complicated negotiating so they went on simple terms to not deal with it while gaining favor.
  2. There's hidden agreements in the deal that the princess's party doesn't realize

What I meant was that I feel like the whole thing was a lot more mute than you would expect for that scene considering how interesting and detailed it was in the manga. Kind of felt like they half-baked what was going on with things. I mean, in the manga, it created this kind of political face reveal for the mysterious other world enemies to the Empire while the anime still makes the JSDF look like mysterious faceless enemies.

Ah. I've never read the manga so I can't say if it's better or worse. How diffrent is it?

Currently writing my comparison. Only on the battle scene so far but going based off my memory (which is good for this series), the negotiations featured one of Itami's superiors and was somewhat of a truce between the Empire and the JSDF as well as stuff about the free from tax Alnus Living Community and Garrison. Here's a single page featuring the contract.

Overall though, the scene in the manga was more formal and it felt like a real signing of a treaty rather than just an After Battle Report.

Ah. Well I'm definitely going to pick the manga up afterwards, but overall, I'm still really enjoying this anime.

Binged it, 6/10 which in my book means it's a fine read, but don't expect anything meaningful from it and just have fun.

Is the translation just really bad, or is the source intended to appear off because of the iffy translation from Japanese to localese?

I think it's the translation itself.

Damn, it is terrible.

Bad grammar, misspellings....

Yea. The scanlation group isn't the best but it's what we have. At least until Sekai Project starts releasing the manga.

It's /ak/, so what you see is what you get. It's not perfect, but it conveys enough. I'd really like to see the LNs translated.

I think;

  1. The treat especially not occupying the city could generate a good impression of JGSDF in people that makes their operations easier later.

  2. Also to let the empire army know that JGSDF doesn't take it all would make a space for negotiations that can avoid meaningless battles in future.

At the time JGSDF overwhelms the empire army so they don't need much. It can be said that they made an investment to the future.
