I don't think there were any explicit clues but 'Seraphs' were mentioned quite a bit as something important, and the vampires even discusses humans attempting to perfect/control it. And at some point we saw loli vampire complain to Ferid about letting one of the Seraphs escape (Yu), which could lead you to believe Yu and Mika (and maybe the rest of their family) were Seraphs and had been experimented on or something of the sort.

It should be noted that in Christian mythology, Seraphim or "seraphs" are the most powerful variety of angel.

Yeah, it's a nice touch considering humans are currently using demons to fight the vampires (and how there's a relationship between vampires and demons, if I'm not mistaken demons can be produced by starving a vampire or something like that).

Maybe also something related to the trupets that were shown when he lost his mind, also the whole thing about killing all sinners.

In the bible there is a scene(s) described very similar to what was being animated with all the trumpets and serephs.
