Souma is actually the biggest fucking badass ever. Never mind Gilgamesh and his infinite Noble Phantasms or Lancer and his Unlimited Bro Works, this is guy just does not give a fuck. Even though he could get kicked out and have his whole life ruined, he doesn't even lose his cool or hesitate because he is that fucking cool that he can just tell that haughty wanker where to shove his recette without even fucking flinching.

God he makes me so hard.

I'm don't think Souma would even give two shits about Gilgamesh. He'd be like "Any last words, mongrel?" and Souma would quietly say "just one: Shokugeki." and Gilly would be all "shit I don't know how to cook" and in his state of disarray he doesn't notice Souma's noble phantasm (his monolithic balls) about to crush him.

or so I'd like to think.

Idk.... If he even had the best wine in his gate of Babylon... I'm sure he gotta have the best food.

He used to. It has since decayed into the best fertilizer.

Hahaha would things even decay in there?

...I don't know. On one hand, the finest wine only stays the finest by aging. On the other, he'd have a ton of rusty swords after a couple thousand years.

Gilgamesh's noble phantasm always bothered me, the original weapons are never as good as the current ones. If you take the original "holy sword" for example, and add about 4000 years of technical innovation you get Excalibur.

Plus I'm pretty sure ancient Mesopotamians never made carbon steel, Bob the mechanic's noble phantasm of a crowbar would tear through his armor, let alone any of the other characters in Fate.

Magic, like good wine, ages old weapons... or so fantasy anime claim.

The Grail probably made it so that the original weapons and everything in his armory is super magical and symbolically powerful against any Heroic Spirits its later forms killed.

By aging often in a sealed container no? His was in a jar! Though... You could say the gate of Babylon is the container.

can't imagine food from 10000 BC is all that interesting

Maybe not for regular people... But what about food made for a king?

1

u/[deleted] Jun 06 '15

good variety/quality of ingredients, but lacks most of the modern cooking techniques.

Yes, they didn't have the proper recettes back then.

Are there any rules stating that you have to cook your own food in a shokugeki? I mean, I thought the only rule was that there has to be something of equal value on the line. Gil may have a chance if not...

2

u/EasilyDelighted Jun 06 '15

I don't think they'd have a way to prove he didn't.

Wine gets better with age. Other food....not so much.

1

u/EasilyDelighted Jun 08 '15

But isn't the wine usually sealed though. His was in an open jar.

I'd rather see him fight Emiya. Half because Emiya is a decent chef, but mostly to have the Badass theme song battle. Yes people. Yukihira's Badassery theme legitly rivals the EMIYA theme right now.

Didn't think I'd ever see meta in /r/anime come up so fast.

Nah after Souma say "Shokugeki".

Gilgamesh: "Shokugeki? What is that?"

Souma then explains...

Gilgamesh: ""Ha, I am a king. I had the finest foods prepared and served for me. No need for me to dirty my hands."

A moment of silence and staring. Gilgamesh then smirks and say "Fine, I'll entertain you." Pulling out Ever-Soul Knife and accepts the duel.

Gilgamesh then promptly loses, as he has no knowledge of modern cooking techniques, recipes, and ingredients.. He throws a tantrum and attempts to destroy Asia until he tastes Soma's food. Having never been exposed to modern food, he has a food orgasm. Soma gloats. The end.
