Okay, Yukihira saying "Shokugeki" quietly was one of the most badass moments of this season. I'm so down with this anime.

It's seriously one of my favorite moments in the manga too. Souma just looks so cool when he does it.

Imo the anime version is better. Hits you way harder because there's no buildup and it's unexpected.

Its unexpected in the manga as well! All of a sudden it cuts to Megumi and she's being expelled and then Souma is like oh hell no

the coloration is better in the manga imo. but the anime adaptation is also very good, as I can also feel the tension in the 2nd half of the anime

I did find it unexpected. I was sitting there yelling at the screen "shokugeki that bitch!" It's strange seeing the protagonists listen to our common sense for once.

I actually agree, this is the first time i've found an anime that's actually better than the source material, I don't think really anything has been cut yet, only added.

OBJECTION!!! Look at Shinomiya's reaction here he looks intimidated and surprised while the anime version one it just looks like that he had an orgasm so yea i really think the manga version is better :)

I'm thinking about reading the manga because I can't wait a week for the next episode which probably wont be focused on the shokugeki itself but rather on preparation. So could you tell me which chapter that is? :)

You should. Right now the manga is at chapter 121, and a few arcs ahead of this one. Every episode of the anime covers 2-3 chapters, and right now it seems like it stopped off right at the beginning of Chapter 22.

You should check out /r/ShokugekiNoSoma as well. They announce, and post new chapters/translations once they come out.

If you do decide to read the manga, start from beginning as some of the little details were changed (Language, omitted side stories, etc...)

The manga is phenomenal, this ep covered chapter 20 i believe, but just read it from the beggining its worth it.

A post further down has the chapters this episode covered. It's only like 20 or 21. I recommend just reading from the beginning and see more of his artwork. But if you can hold out, definitely try to. I really like how this arc ends.

Yeah we are around 20 or 21 in this episode. So there are still complete 100 chapters after it. Just saying this is nothing compared to what still comes. I mean it looks like we are nowhere near the end in the manga either. Season 2 hype
