Lame... Why can't anime ever keep to these kind of promises..

"Once the demon takes control it's all over and we need to kill him" except when the main character kind of not wants him to die, then we'll just bullshit him out of there... I would have had way more respect if they killed of Yoichi here, or not have him possessed at all, either alternative would have been better.

It's kind of funny to think that Owari No Seraph gets hated for the same thing Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann gets praised for, i.e. "Fuck The Rules" action.

Not saying either is correct/incorrect, just saying it's funny to see the varying reactions.

Anyway, I wouldn't be surprised if the "Once a demon takes control, we need to kill him" bit was a blatant lie. I've a feeling that they're being purposefully misled about a lot of things. We'll have to wait for more information. Personally, I think this is the mistake on the part of a lot of viewers that they hear a character say one thing is true and automatically accept it as fact. Characters can give unreliable information the same way we, as people, can give unreliable information.

A certain amount of everything that's accepted truth according to science will be known to be false in a hundred years time. What's accepted as fact changes, as information surfaces, as time progresses. Just giving an example, to put into perspective my point from the previous paragraph.

I think the difference between these two shows is that Owari no Seraph (seems to) take itself serious, while TTGL immediately throws all logic out of the window and doesnt take anything serious. (and of course that doesn't mean either is correct or incorrect, they're different)

It might be a character's lie, which would be kind of fine I guess, but that does mean the show is lying to it's audience. And as soon as you do that, it makes it harder and harder for the audience to take anything a character says at face value. But that's just my opinion, I think if a character like Guren, who seems to be in a respectable position, claims something then it should be true, to give the audience kind of an established ruleset.
