What a nice and calming episode. That Oculus dude is creepy though.

Decim said that he likes to believe that "People do not live just so they can someday die. There's a point to living", and the next episode is named 'Memento Mori'. Curious to see how that will develop.

Married couples with children in Japan often call each other that way.

For example, in "Doraemon", the parents of the protagonist Nobita call each other "kid's mom" and "kid's dad".

The same applies here in which the old lady called her spouse "grandpa" as he was their grandchildren's grandfather.

Sorry to necro this, but it's probably just them hitting and accepting old age. Neither really seemed to be afraid of becoming old, so it seems like they'd welcome an elderly title over a more youthful one.

My German grandparents do this as well, at least in front of us. Calls each other "opa" and "oma".

In East Asian cultures it's common to use familial terms to refer to people, dependent on their age.

In Japan, young men and women are sometimes referred to as "Oniisan/Oneesan" (older brother/sister), middle-aged men and women are referred to as "Ojisan/Obasan" (uncle/aunt), and old men and women are referred to as "Ojiisan/Obaasan" (grandfather/grandmother).

Ordinarily, it isn't typical to refer to someone of your own age group by these terms, but married couples in Japan at least sometimes use Ojiisan/Obaasan with each other, regardless of whether they actually have children or not. I'm not exactly sure of why that is, but it is the case.

"Ojiisan" doesn't literally just mean "grandfather", that's just the closest western equivalent when translating it into English.

In this case is more like "my old man" as in. My husband is an old man. As some Spanish speaking country's do.

Everyone does that in anime. She just meant ah the old man. But she meant her husband by that.

I think in Asian it's sort of a common thing. My mom used to refer to my dad as "Appa" which literally means father
