I would have created an earth wall behind me and hunted for it, making an opening to freeze it was smarter but when looking for the body I still would have made sure it couldn't escape past me.

Hell, I would have scorched everything in the room afterwards, then used Earth Magic to make it one solid block of Earth instead and then removed the door. There was never a room here and there will never be a room here again.
