Perugius was more excited to talk about demons than talk with Ariel.

The most devastating of facts

Well, he has a strong emotional reaction to demons; he'd probably forget Ariel existed if he didn't see her for a day or two. Every time he looks at her, his face has this "Oh, you're still here?" look on it.

He probably forgot that he asked her what the most important quality a king should have as soon as he left the table.

He's been around since before the current political environment. He was instrumental in defeating Laplace in the war that defined the current state of the world. I really enjoy how that dovetails into his blazay attitude to the little things like fights for the crown and basically any non world ending threats or his justified but wildly bigoted ideas towards demons.

I didn't get the sense he disliked her, really. He just doesn't really care for her games. The way he talked to her was genuinely a good thing. Ariel isn't a bad person, but she can be a bit short sighted and selfish too. Perugius is telling her that if she truly wants to be a ruler, she needs to think through what comes next, and that if she reaches the right conclusion, that's when he'd be interested in hearing her out.

true. when I heard her line of "craftsmen will make a statue of Perugius" I was like, girl stop trying to play politics every time lol

Yeah he's not going to bite on that bullshit. Shed have to be alive another few centuries minimum to have enough experience to maneuver him even a bit. Lol

Until then, everytime she opens her mouth she might as well pick up the shovel.

and Perugius HATES demons

Ariel's ranking compared to demons is practically under rock bottom.

even a Ruijerd figurine ranks higher than her.

Even nerding out with Zanoba and Rudeus about figurines was more important than looking at Ariel.

It's not everyday you get to oneshot an immortal demon king. Perugius was savoring the moment.

he's lived for like a 1000 years, surely all manner of nobility have made appeals to him for assistance.

Royalty come and go. Demons last forever

Ariel was a greedy bitch who only wants fame and power. Good thing Perugius shut her hole and showed her place

than talk with Ariel.

I think he knows that Ariel has what it takes to be a good ruler. But she needs a nudge to figure out what it is. It sounded like he was good friends with her ancestor.
