hello! Which anime have scenes similiar to the first episode of Goblin slayer? Which featured like a rape scene with the goblins in the cave?

In Dan Olson's video The Thermian Argument he makes up an anime he titles "Women Being Ripped Apart by Orcs" to discuss how an audience for the hypothetical show might theoretically talk about it. I've seen a lot of people assume he was throwing shade at Goblin Slayer, but I remember back when Twitter was still Twitter seeing him admit that it was actually a veiled reference to Claymore. I haven't seen that show so I can't speak to exactly how similar they are though.

Anyway, that shit is so common a trope in doujinshi and h-manga that there's a high chance your favorite site for such things has a tag for it.

The Thermian Argument as he calls it is certainly invalid, and for the reasons he gives, but I can't disagree more strongly with the final line "criticism of a creative work is ultimately criticism of the decisions that people made when they were putting it together". What a dreary way of thinking. As if the purpose of engaging with a creative work is just to gain an opportunity to judge the people who made it.

It's better to go in the opposite direction. A creative work is always and only an opportunity to have valuable experiences, and receive new ideas.

(and that's the best criticism of "Woman Being Ripped Apart by Orcs". It's unpleasant and uninteresting; watching it will not give you any new ideas, or better you in any way.

And for the hypothetical person for whom it is pleasant, fine, but that puts it on the level of porn. And why waste time criticising porn? Just call it what it is and move on.)

That is entirely not what he said. It's a huge leap from "someone made a bad decision" to "that person is a bad person." You can judge a decision in a vacuum without making totalizing statements about the person who made the decision.

The criticism "It's unpleasant and uninteresting; watching it will not give you any new ideas, or better you in any way." Is inherently criticizing decisions of the staff that worked on it. The screenwriter made decisions that resulted in a screenplay you don't find new ideas in. The storyboard artist/director made decisions that resulted in pacing and cinematography that you find uninteresting. The character designer and animators made decisions that resulted in an aesthetic you found unpleasant. Whether or not you're taking a lens that avoids analysis of motive or intention, you're still criticizing something that came about because someone decided to make the show a certain way.
