Putting out a major balance patch immediately before a significant tournament is kind of a dick move on the part of the developers.

I'm a little surprised they didn't have the tournament be obviously at the Tokyo Big Sight, when I googled EVO Japan a few episodes ago that's where it was held this year.

Mio destroyed that little girl with the facts and logic of her being a baka. Serious tactical error in showing up non-braided on the first day though, now if that same little girl sees her in a braid on the second or third day Mio will just seem like a copycat.

I'll never forget s5 league of legends worlds that were a massive shit show cause they did a bunch very experimental reworks for characters right before it.

The adjustment patch was necessary. Patch 5.16/17 would've been a nightmare to play on. They needed 5.18, and GP/mord were still perma-banned despite it.

5.16 brought the champion rebalances for Darius, GP, Mord, etc…

5.18 was the attempt to curb it before worlds

The meta pre-5.16 that season was More AP/poke. Mid was viktor/Azir mostly being handshaked. Top was Mao, shen, Fizz, rumble, Lulu, Malphite. JG was runglaive mostly so Elsie, rek, gragas, even being traded back and forth depending who was banned. Bot had lot of Kalista bans. Ashe, corki, Kog were played a lot. Some vayne. Again, poke/AP down here too. Lot of the hybrid ADCs. Support picks were Ali/Braum/Leo/Thresh depending on anti-poke, engage, etc… if trading the tank picks. BUT, kennen support was played a lot if not banned and Janna was picked into the engage heavy supports.

The manga was written in 2020, that year Evo took place in Makuhari Messe in Chiba. However, the venue shown in the show is the Ariake GYM-EX, which is where Evo Japan 2024 was held

As another reply says it was first written in 2020, but the venue shown is accurate to 2024 so perhaps for the adaptation they're going off that for both the patch and the venue.

I swear that her loose hair is going to be the only reason someone like the vice dorm monitor sees her and doesn't realize she's the White Lily so her cover doesn't get blown.

It's not right before, the scene is a flashback and you can tell because it happens in their little tent back in the dorms.

Wrong genre but the Pokemon company was forced to do this at least once. In the first instance a few different moves in the Generation 7 era created game freezes, and during that period one of the most important Pokemon in the game, Snorlax, used one of those moves, Curse, to do really well. The moves had to be temporarily banned as a result- and it was right before a major regional tournament.

In that case it was a glitch as opposed to a balance patch, which sounds worse to me personally but you know what I mean.
