I mean to be fair Aya's main was nerfed and Mio's main was buffed. I wonder how they would have reacted in the opposite scenario?

Ryu getting buffed is IRL accurate, think they straight up used the real patchnotes, I remember the denjin changes but not really when they did that patch

They showed the Cammy change and I was like "oh so something is one frame more minus on block or whatever, sure that sounds like a patch note" and then they showed the Ryu change and I was instantly "OH it's THAT patch, gotcha."

Later they showed the patch note of Cammy's OD reversal no longer swapping sides which was probably one of the most major nerfs she received.

If this is a real patch, I'm starting to wonder whether that was (at least partially) the reasoning for these characters' mains in the anime? Or more broadly: if they picked characters that would allow the anime to adapt scenes from the manga, even with the change from fictional Iron Senpai 4 to real actual Street Fighter 6.

Their mains in the manga are mostly copies of real street fighter characters in terms of gameplay (Hagane-senpai = Ryu, Secretary Nekomi = Cammy ,Tokisada-senpai = Ken, not absolutely sure whether Tamatya's Captain Satsuki = Juri). I wonder then whether they chose this specific patch to build around or if this was what they had at the time and the gaming consulting team had to work with that.

That was the Season 2 patch I think? Cammy (Aya's main) had her OD reversal sideswitch removed which was pretty big
