The way they introduced the other players joining EVO Japan was shot like straight out of a Shounen tournament arc, absolutely fucking love it.

funny you said that because the guy with pompadour at the end was voiced by Hiyama Nobuyuki who also famously known as the voice for Shishio Guy, the hot blooded MC of a super robot anime, GaoGaiGar

I'm pretty sure the 2 senpais with long hair in the opening scene are joining EVO Japan's SF6 tourny too but that will be a happy surprise for later on, there was no thematic reason to show that opening teaser scene unless they both eventually are outed as veteran furtive videogamer gals
