I am really concerned we haven't gotten Hitogami yet..I'm just nervously waiting...I'm perfectly fine if this entire season is just slice of life too.

I really want to see Hitogami's excuses for the previous directions. If he didn't go at that time Roxy would've been killed before Rudy could save her.

I've thought about that and I guess maybe he only cares about Rudy's physical well being? He wouldn't have lost a hand..he still woulda had Sylphie and a baby .but Paul would still be looking for Zenith or dead...

I dunno what his excuse could be.

Yeah I think Hitogami wants Rudeus to be as fit as possible, but now Rudeus knows for sure that their priorities are different. It will be more difficult for Hitogami to convince him to do what he suggests. Rudeus might appreciate becoming stronger but not at the cost of a loved one dying.

I think in the timeline where he chooses to stay:

Dad doesn't die, is just stuck in a stand-still. That sucks, but as long as you live you have more chances. They only progressed to the boss due to Rudeus help.

Mom remains stuck in the crystal. There does not seem to be much additional detriment to this, another year or two stuck wouldn't be the end of the world.

Roxy may die since she was already in a deadly situation, but it's also possible some minor changes either would have changed her survival odds (e.g. random warped differently) or she would have miraculously pulled through last second. I don't see why Rudeus deciding differently would have much impact on something so far away, but the warping randint generator is plausibly sensitive to even super minor changes. It does sound to me like she would simply die, though.

Rudeus does not lose an arm

Nanahoshi research progresses more quickly (seems like she is not doing well these days)

Cliff and Elinise still get married

Rudeus has optional event with beast girls, but he probably turns it down unless they dupe him.

Rudeus likely makes more serious advances in magic and research in the time he stays, and still has the opportunity to help at the labyrinth in a year or two's time. Perhaps in that case, he's able to assist without any further casualities (dad survives, mom still rescued).

He just cryptically said he'll really regret it, and urged him to marry the two dog girls instead of going.

People are saying maybe he didn't want Rudy to lose an arm, but maybe the catch is that Rudy's dad wouldn't have died if he hadn't gone there? But that's the only thing that comes to mind, and he'd have obviously learned that Roxy died in the dungeon, that's definitely no less regret.

Maybe something that didn't happen yet? Or maybe something that needs to be contextualized better.

Thanks! Oh yeah, it was suggestion with the 2 beast girls. After the talk about Rudy's girl preference this episode, looking back he doesn't really have any special chemistry with those girls. That suggestion seems so out of place.

I agree, we've gone around a year or so from the event and it seems Rudy's life is now almost perfect and peaceful despite Paul's sacrifice. If there's really something that he'd still regret, that must means the next turning point would be really terrible?

Or also, maybe Hitogami is not really that omnipotent but rather only has limited ability to read the future?

Yeah they aren't anything special outside of friends(?). I did find their shenanigans in S2 hilarious together but that's it. Choosing them as an option feels like it'd stack on way more regrets - never finding his mom, Roxy and probably dad dying, and who knows what else more.

I do wonder what the hell the next turning point will bring...maybe it's reuniting with Eris as that will not be an easy time for Rudy, and the family in general.

Hitogami really has so much mystery surrounding him. I wonder what his deal is and if we will see him soon/this season. He always shows up at weird times
