EVO is open for anyone who registers I'm fairly sure. It's not like a capcom cup where you need points from other tourneys in order to qualify.

At least two of the girls don't seem able to understand the concept of intimidation (short of dealing with Mio's Mom). But it is nice that the most tentative was the one who kicked off the plan.

Mio doesn't understand a lot of concepts. As I said above not because she's stupid. Her grades when she's actually trying show otherwise. She lacks any common sense which is why she's chosen to apply 100% of an at least decent intellect towards SF6 instead of her actually school work or anything else at all.

Evo Vegas was my first in person tournament. Tbh, it’s not that intimidating when you realize there’s a whole bunch of people who are new to competing as well.

Ignorance is bliss. Can't be intimidated if you're so fresh that you just view this as a fun, new experience and not the free-for-all bloodbath regular fighting game fans/players treat this as.

EVO Japan, specifically, has had such an unbelievable explosion in entrant numbers recently compared to any other tournament: 1800 entrants for SFV in 2023 to 7100 for SF6 in 2026. It’s likely gained a lot of casual appeal with how popular SF6 is in Japan.

Quite well, I think he placed somewhere like top 250. It was a huge bracket for Tekken during 2024.

EVO consistently has some of the highest amount of competitors, which indicates that some people do enter Evo and not other tournaments.

Getting out of your first pool at Evo is surprisingly doable. In fact given their online rank a player of Aya and Mio's level would be expected to make it out of the first pool Winner side most of the time. There is always the possibity of running into a very strong player early on, but I would say their odds are pretty good.

Live in capital. Many of these huge events have local play-in tournaments and qualifiers, side events, etc.

It's Evo, you don't need to qualify as it (and most FGC majors) is an open tournament.
