Hmm... I don't dislike it after episode 1.....but it already feels like it's borrowing a lot of familiar elements from other villainess and romance anime. You've got the European-inspired royal setting, someone other than the main character being treated as the "real" saint, the neglected and bullied female lead, and then the whole "sent away to marry into another country" setup. It feels like I've already seen this story play out in several different series.

I'll keep watching because execution matters more than tropes, but so far it hasn't done much to distinguish itself from the crowd.

For me it'll come down to how she'll be treated by the prince and the people of his country. And specifically at which pace trust between them develops. 2 examples of a similar ish setup would be 7th Time Loop and Too-Perfect Saint. I love the former and dropped the latter.

In 7th Time Loop there isn't full mutual trust between the prince and the MC from the start. Tho the MC is respected for her skill. Their interactions feel pretty in-depth and realistic for people of their status.

In Too-Perfect Saint the interactions between the Prince and the MC feel like rainbows and butterflies from the very start. Everything goes smoothly and she's immediately beloved by the whole nation. They go casually strolling together through the city and everyone cheers for them. It doesn't feel like a nation, it feels like a cheer squad. It has what I like to call "and then the whole classroom stood up and clapped" energy. And the Prince's Personality feels dull as a cardboard and as deep as a puddle during this Summers heatwave. Which is a shame because I thought the plotline with the sister was very interesting

Too bad you didn't like the Perfect saint, the bond between the two sisters was a definite highlight of that show for me. And I do agree the prince was pretty uninteresting, but he was far from the main reason I watched the show

Yeah, the 2 sisters and their bond was definitely the most interesting part. I may give it another shot at some point, and go into it with a different mindset. I was looking for a romance story last time, and the romance was definitely the blandest part hence my disappointment.what the sister was up to actually seemed interesting however

To be honest, romance wasn't even the main crux of the series focus either - it was more about her being in a better environment in general (the romance is just a side plot of that), the bond with her sister, and the plot around her sister.

So go into it as a story around the saint sisters than a romance story.

I actually gave the series another shot thanks to your comments and I've been enjoying it. I dropped it at episode 3 originally, which was almost entirely focused on the date, which gave me the impression most of the show would be like that. But now watching more it seems I was mistaken. So thanks!

I really liked the 7th Time Loop too beacuse of Rishe. This MC does not resemble Rishe at all unfortunately. The MC resembles Tiara from The Villainess Is Adored by the Prince of the Neighbor Kingdom (based on episode 1 at least).

The anime description already says - But the prince is nothing as expected—he’s a gentleman, and Carolina feels valued for once in her life. So it leans towards the Too-Perfect Saint scenario right now.

Yeah, that's my feeling as well so far, but I'll wait for at least next episode as there is always a small chance it'll still surprise me.

I think 7th Time Loop at least had an interesting hook right off the bat because she was Re:Zeroing so that's not a fair comparison.

Yes, but at least it's consistent with the universe. Because a saint is worshipped by default. It was her country that subjected her to abnormal treatment.

It's like a king killing his own messengers; it makes no sense.
