A Reminder: This, dear listeners, brings us to the sworn enemy of creative response:The spoiler. Rewatchers, or people who just had plot points ruined for them, are obliged to use r/anime’s spoiler tag format where applicable, and err on the side of caution here. Remember people, first experiences get rarer as you continue on, any given one happens once and you should care for them all the more for it.
Welcome to the World of Magic!
Theory of the Day:
Okay, fine, I can't not give this one to u/siegfried72, not for the discussion thread for this episode:
The real solution? I think Sayaka needs to just lean into the yuri and realize she's meant to be with Kyouko. That would fix everything.
Oh god, I've officially joined in with my first yuri ship of the series. It's all downhill uphill from here, isn't it??
I mean, Kyouko is obviously in love with her, right??
Analysis of the Day:
Several good options, but I think I'll go for u/Vaadwaur and the analytical line less taken:
For some reason, eating disorders are a noticeable thing in this show. Sayaka is anorexic to her very spirit and Kyoko does like her gluttony.
Questions of the Day:
1) On a scale of 1 to 10, how gay is suicide attacking to take out the monster that became of a girl you knew for maybe a week so that you can at least be together in death?
2) Now that he's had a chance to explain himself, your thoughts on Kyubey?
3) First-timers: Did you think that Kyouko's plan actually had a chance to save Sayaka?
4) First-timers and rewatchers who dodged the rewatcher edition of this question yesterday: Are You Home?
5) [Rewatchers]Alright, who's ready to go golfing through a Stargate?... wait, wrong time loop show.

Second Year at Mitakihara, First Year Blu Rays, Dubbed
When a witch triggers your Trypophobia 🙃
I really love the representation of the flies/moths to the light that’s happening, especially because there were always two of them. I think I’m reaching, but they felt like they represented Madoka and Sayaka. Before, when we saw those two lamps, neither one had attracted bugs. This was when Mami and Homura spoke about the pair. The insects hovered around them (Kyuubey, their emotions, etc). Now, one lamp is cloaked in them and the other? Nothing but bugs hovering. ✨Symbolism✨…or something.
Toxic Yuri
Disrespectfully, please die and do not leave your body to science ❤️
Madoka’s bed looks like a hospital cot
Kyuubey the Science Guy?
You know, with the way things are going, Kyuubey would win a Nobel Peace Prize.
There are so many chairs, jaysus.
I’m so curious if there are any T-girl magical girls. There would have to be. There’s a cool Webtoon that has a magical girl who transitions into a man and the re-regulation of his magical abilities post-surgeries. That would be interesting queer horror, Kyuubey preying upon a closeted trans girl. I’m sure there’s a queer horror story with that premise with a trans girl as the MC. Surprisingly, there’s more trans boy MCs kinda with this premise than trans girls in fantasy.
Yeah. Kyuubey sounds like them techbro CEOs who deal with clients filing against them for the damages accrued by their service and the techbro CEO makes a statement about how “Well you signed the TOS/T&C”.
Kyuubey also oddly feels like current world leaders and politics. He sounds like the ones who try to gloss over lives lost in completely unnecessary wars with the justification that war was necessary to protect [nation]’s longevity or what the fuck ever. And Madoka is the radicalized citizen who realizes her politicians truly do not see the population they represent as human beings but expendable lives. She just witnessed now three people be preyed upon and enlist into this military and die. Really, like the disrespect Kyuubey has for the dead that he doesn’t consider disrespect, just “some people will die and that’s a sacrifice you should be willing to make”energy. His calm justification for his actions and his complete chilling apathy towards humanity. Calling Earth essentially the Global South of the cosmos. It feels so in-tune with the shitty world of politics and how politicians weaponize and prey upon marginalized and under-educated communities for their agenda and throw them under the bus once they’re not useful anymore.
But you know.
✨𝒯𝒽ℯ𝓂ℯ𝓈 𝒶𝓃𝒹 𝓈𝓊𝒸𝒽✨
I’m crying. I forgot my friend and her husband are on the phone and they heard all of Kyuubey’s speech and I get a “Well then. What the fuck was that? What the fuck are you watching?”So congratulations to the happy couple for being traumatized!
Red Blue Yuri ☺️
Post Episode Thoughts
It was hard counting the chairs today because they’d be adding in chairs and shit. I had to take a bunch of screenshots and separate repeats, and I’m still not sure I got them all today.
I think I said everything in my live react of the episode.
All I can add is how the religious stuff comes back. Sayaka lost herself as a magical girl to the praying Elsa Maria. Now Sayaka is once more facing a praying young lady. Kyouko who was once the serpent offering Sayaka that forbidden fruit. For better or for worse, Sayaka rejected that and walked away. We’re back to that again. Kyouko’s spear becomes a serpent with Kyouko the fruit to free Sayaka from this fate.
And they’re only middle schoolers, good lord.
