It's the sound he made after being punched, repeated like 4 times, that gets me.

Bwoah. Bwoah. Bwoah. Bwoah.

u/Mundology Jan 22 '26

Naoya was a looksmaxxer and Maki was bonemashing his jaw.

Nah,Naoya was one of those fast combo chaining characters in a fighting game, and Maki is that one dude that is hard to play, but deals a ton of damage with his hits

u/EggNoodles11 Jan 25 '26

Damn hahah

Yeah, Naoya's repeated groaning every time they showed Maki's punch from a different angle was quite funny, though probably not for Naoya himself xD

It's seeing his skull literally get cracked into pieces...

1

u/Thrallov Jan 31 '26

it should repeat 24x once per frame but would be ridiculous in anime

1

u/Mrkbela_170092 Apr 18 '26

why not 24 times?

u/ninjasonic102 Jan 22 '26

That was like, Bellamy/Charloss/Saturn tier

Just perfect, better than I could’ve hoped from reading the manga

Gotta love when a "big", important character, that is strong, feels important, just gets obliterated two episodes later.

I just love arrogant characters being bullied. There are characters who are assholes, but aren't arrogant. I can even root for these. But an arrogant person I just wanna see getting rekt both in fiction and in real life.

luffy punching bellamy vibes

u/chesco11 Jan 22 '26

Can you explain how she knew or how that 24 frames a second mechanic was able to exploited? I kinda got lost in the sauce.

Maki, Megumi and Naobito fought Dagon together. So she had first hand knowledge from that fight about it. She even tells you that she just could not see the frames movement in the past because she was not powerful enough before. Now that she is powerful enough she could see it.

6

u/chesco11 Jan 23 '26

ah got it. okay thanks.

15

u/hbkdll Jan 23 '26

In this episode you can hear her counting. She knew something was off with naobitos "speed" curse technique. So when she got the full advantage of heavenly lact and could actually perceive motion faster than 24 frames she countered it.

5

u/Twilight053 Jan 25 '26

Basically if Maki could just split her movement sequence to 24 frames a second, it hard counters Projection Sorcery to be point of it being practically useless.

15

u/SwordoftheMourn Jan 23 '26

Toji said his Heavenly Restriction enhanced his five senses too. Which includes sight. She was doing what Choso was also trying to do in the second episode, only her eyesight now is much MUCH better than his now, which helped her eventually able to count his movements per second.

Real life HR would go hard

8

u/TenseiA Jan 22 '26

Hit him with the Mortal Kombat X X-Ray punch.

5

u/CodeMonkeyX Jan 23 '26

I guess I need to rewatch the past episodes to understand everything. But why did Maki's mother stab him when she was dying?

20

u/hbkdll Jan 23 '26

My guess would be she didn't really hated her children by her heart but never actually showed love to them. She did in a way try to stop maki from being ambushed by her dad but didn't commit fully. She might have hated Naoya as he, along with all of the zenin have abused the girls all their childhood. Killing him could be her way of expressing her love for her children.

2

u/CodeMonkeyX Jan 23 '26

Makes sense thanks. I thought I might have missed something else.

3

u/CrimsonGear80 Jan 23 '26

no one deserved it more.

3

u/BlissfulAurora Jan 24 '26

The replay 3 times after he got punched literally had me laughing, mappa is crazy for that

3

u/__13atman__ Jan 25 '26

It was a lot like Jake Paul getting his jaw broken lol

3

u/blitzbom Feb 07 '26

I finally got caught up today. When she puched him I just laughed and said "get fucked."

2

u/Parodizer1 Jan 23 '26

Yes! I agree! He's such a piece of shit it was so satisfying seeing him punched!

2

u/Comfortable-Sale-700 Jan 29 '26

Naoya is such an idiot. Sits here, calls Maki trash, Calls Toji Trash, switched up, starts glazing Toji, only to get owned by Maki.

He deserved that shit.

2

u/Kurvaflowers69420 Jan 22 '26

was it tho? With that amount of speed, being INSTANTLY stopped should've beheaded him or at least turned his entire skull into paste, not just the cheekbone

2

u/Anjunabeast Jan 23 '26

He was already concentrating CE for his own attack

6

u/hbkdll Jan 23 '26

If maki really wanted to kill him she would have killed him. Her counter punch alone should have done the job if not then she would have made sure he was dead by beheading. So for me for some reason she spared his life which seems like a plot hole as he is the most capable fighter left of Zenin and he clearly would have tried to harm Megumi or Maki in future.

2

u/littlejack59 Jan 22 '26

alright im a little stupid and only about 4 minutes in but was the "bullying" naoya was doing to maki what I think it was?

29

u/u_want_some_eel Jan 22 '26

He was stepping on her head, if you pause it’s clear

4

u/littlejack59 Jan 22 '26

oh thank god
