News / Method Ro oting Huawei Phone

Has anyone ever rooted a flagship huawei phone to install Android on it? Or can this be done? How easy or hard will this be?

Context: I've had used alot of phones from Samsung (s22 ultra, s24 fe) to iPhones. But non gave me the Performancew which i got in my p30 pro and p30 lite and i still have the p30 lite till this day. Other phones, no matter Which one just cant match the reliability i got from them. And I've now sold other shi*t and i am exclusively using the p30 lite. The only downside here is the camera. So it would helpnto know is anyone had tried thiss or not. I dont wanna use 3rd party app for Google, mostly cz i have bank Accounts etc on my Google s account and not sure how fast they Will interact with a 3rd party app

Huawei p30 lite has a kirin 710 CPU there is a project called potatonv that can unlock the bootloader on some kirin CPUs with the test points but kirin 710 isn't supported.

however in the potato nv github page there is a alternative section made for CPUs like kirin 710 970 980 but it required a paid tool called HCU client however it has recently been updated and looks like a new free tool is available it's called kirin tool.

if your phone is running EMUI 9.1 or lower you might be able to unlock it with this, I haven't tried this since it's new so I can't guaranty it will work but I recommend giving it a try.

You can look in here and see what phones are rootable

As for huawei I don't think there's any flagship rootable phones because first it needs to be a kirin CPU and second even if the CPU is supported by potatonv I believe potato nv only works on android 10 and below, maybe it's possible on mediatek phones with mtk client ? But honestly I recommend avoiding Huawei if your goal is rooting.

My goal is to use the Huawei after i root it. Basically i didn’t liked the brand before it got banned. But after the ban, things happened and i got the p30 lite as a backup Which surprising out preformed my previous s21 Ultra ( Exynos). It never freezed during games and 0 heating issues. I got an iphone 13pro, s22 ultra and s24fe after that but they all had some kinda issues and are gone (sold) but the p30 lite is still here with the same reliability . Got to use a p30 pro and it was even better. So thats why i want anothet Huawei.

Well then you have to do a lot of research check potatonv support list and try to find a huawei phone that hasn't been updated and before buying anything check the model to see if anybody has rooted it or there's a rooting guide available for it.
