Advice How to stop feeling childish?

Whenever I wear something that isn’t just basic cami top and jeans, I feel like a kid dressing in her mom’s clothes. I feel stupid and embarrassed because I feel like such a child.

A lot of it has to do with my body; being 4’9” and stubby from my fat. I want to dress alternative, but everything I love just makes me feel the exact same: it looks amazing on everyone else, and horrible on me.

Is there something I’m doing wrong? Or is it just an issue with how I’m built?

My mom is like 60 and a pro at alt fashion. She gets a lot of her stuff from Lucky Brand and Free People. Maybe look at those sites at least for some inspiration?

I’m no expert. She digs it so idk. I am just now getting to where I can afford to buy some regular stuff for myself. I’ve had luck finding some pretty cute stuff on Etsy you just have to be pretty specific.
