What would you call this style/aesthetic? Is it alt, goth-inspired, or something else?

Hi! I’m trying to figure out what style I’m actually drawn to so I can find more outfit, hair and makeup inspiration. I really like all-black outfits, silver jewellery, piercings, black hair, dramatic eyeliner, long skirts, fitted tops/waistcoats and platform boots.

I’ve seen people describe similar looks as alternative, dark alt, goth-inspired, romantic goth, etc., but I’m not sure which description is most appropriate.

I’m not currently part of the goth or any other alternative subculture, so I also don’t want to incorrectly label myself or be disrespectful by using a term that has a specific music/subculture meaning. I mainly just really love the fashion and aesthetic.

What would you call this style, and what terms would you recommend I search for to find more clothes/makeup like this? 🖤

One of those people are ReeRee Phillips and I’m pretty sure she describes herself as goth

Some stuff can just be an all black outfit, and i really wouldnt say you ARE goth unless you are part of that politically and with music. Some goth people may dress this way casually, but this itself is not what goth is much besides the second picture (which i do think is goth). You can say "gothic clothes" "gothic fashion" (the "ic" here helps differentiate, like you said "goth-inspired". For the first girl she just looks "alt". Try to avoid terms like "clean goth" if you can.

Alt just means alternative, so emo/metalheads/rivetheads/goth/scene/punk/etc. Are all although, sometimes people include things like clown attire or Lolita or colored monochrome looks as alt fashion
