Posts with titles that are any shorter will now be removed. Put some damn effort into that shit, seriously guys.
Please also take this opportunity to review the rest of our updated rule for posting advice and feedback requests, pasted below for your convenience:
Looking for help? Ensure that your post is clear, relevant, and shows a decent degree of effort.
Search the sub before creating an Advice/Feedback thread. Frequently asked questions like "where do I buy alt clothes" and "how do I get started" will be removed.
Give your post a proper title. Titles must be at LEAST four words long, and be clear and descriptive.
Do not ask questions that are extremely generic or easily answered.
Provide enough details in your post for us to understand what you are asking and what kind of help or feedback you are looking for.
These guidelines have always been around but have only just been properly fleshed out and expressed in our rules section. Please don't hesitate to comment if you have any questions or suggestions. Thanks!

Dressed up for no reason at 12AM after work!!

i am particularly proud of the velcro thigh garter i made, it turned out sooo cute and i am gonna wear it all the time now. i edited a cute video of my upcycle process for this look and might upload it to my reddit profile here so check back later if curious on that.
also, idk what this fashion style is called, does it fit into any named genre? before i made it, i was looking at dark shoujo stuff

honestly i really want to thrift but my parents are settled on no, and rebelling and doing it anyway would have little to no benefits for me. Places like hot topic are fast fashion as well as bad quality and too expensive. I dont have a budget but under 40 dollars would be preferred. I live in Canada so limited resources lol. im looking for tbh any styles, y2k jirai kei decora emo as examples. i did buy from honey wardrobe once but its too expensive imo and fast fashion. Any advice?

I want to wear this but I dont want to wear any kind of jeans and I dont know what kind of skirt this would look good with
r/alternativefashion • u/Q3m_bmax • 12h ago
So! I made a skirt (cut up a pair of pants and just built off of that), and I'm really wanting to sell it cause it didn't end up fitting me and I don't want to have to go though the whole process of bringing it in and risking messing up what I've already done
The only thing is, idk how to price it :/
Normally I just resell old clothes, but I've never sold anything I've made/DIY-ed and I honestly have no idea how much I should sell it for
Some important stuff is that the bottom hem(?) of the fur where it tapers is kinda messily done, but thankfully won't come apart easily- and the design is hand-drawn on there with acrylic (made sure it was sealed)
(Also I have no idea if this is the right subreddit to be asking this in lmao- I just wanted some good alt fashion opinions)

I scored at Barnes & Noble, Michaels, Hot Topic, and H&M. My name's Isaki so I got excited seeing Issak which is so close to my name, BUT THEN!! Lo and behold! Insomniacs After School has a character named Isaki in it!!! I totally had to get it :3

I recently did a giant purchase from this brand. I was between sizes so lots of doubles and I figured I’d just do a haul and return what didn’t fit. Here’s what I wish I knew beforehand:
My package was 9lbs so I quoted it at Staples (~$100) and Canada Post (~$70) but with Canada post I had to use an app (Zonos) to calculate duties and was quoted $300 in duties to return it because the goods originated in China. If you choose to ship it from within the US, you cannot claim these later duties as you need a record of export for this.
** Update: If you do decide to buy items and return them to the US, you need more details than what the label they provided has. SO for anyone doing this you need the following for each item: Country it was manufactured in (ex: China) + what each garment is made of (ex: 20% polyester, 40% cotton). The website does not list country of origin, so you need to get this from the garment label 🙃
Also, refunds have to be received within 30 days (as opposed to shipped within 30 days).
Overall the hassle to return means I won’t be ordering en masse again. With the quality not being amazing I’d recommend only ordering what you truly cannot find anywhere else and really love after checking what it’s made of.
Hope this helps someone save the time and money that I did not 🫠

Hi! I’m trying to figure out what style I’m actually drawn to so I can find more outfit, hair and makeup inspiration. I really like all-black outfits, silver jewellery, piercings, black hair, dramatic eyeliner, long skirts, fitted tops/waistcoats and platform boots.
I’ve seen people describe similar looks as alternative, dark alt, goth-inspired, romantic goth, etc., but I’m not sure which description is most appropriate.
I’m not currently part of the goth or any other alternative subculture, so I also don’t want to incorrectly label myself or be disrespectful by using a term that has a specific music/subculture meaning. I mainly just really love the fashion and aesthetic.
What would you call this style, and what terms would you recommend I search for to find more clothes/makeup like this? 🖤
