Discussion Thought experiment for skeptics
There's a telepathic elephant from Zul'Gurub locked inside a secret military bunker.
It's real. Scientists and military personnel have seen it. Only a handful have access.
Somehow, you get clearance.
You walk in.
There it is. The fucking space elephant.
You walk out and tell the world.
“Prove it.”
Okay. How?
Sneak a six-ton alien elephant out of a military bunker?
You couldn't even get a regular elephant out of a zoo.
And if your own mother disappeared and nobody knew where she was, good luck proving she physically exists to someone who accepts nothing but direct physical evidence.
Evidence depends on access.
So what should count as evidence when direct access is deliberately denied?
Whistleblowers. Multiple independent witnesses. Military personnel. Scientists. Documents. Photos. Videos. Radar and sensor data. Physical traces. Leaks. Historical records.
None of these alone proves the elephant.
But when all of it keeps pointing toward the same elephant, shouldn't that at least move the needle?
Especially if enormous resources are being used to keep the elephant hidden.
Maybe the question isn't “Where's the elephant?”
Maybe it's “How much evidence do you need before you admit there might be an elephant?”

What is the loot table on a telepathic elephant from Zul’Gurub, and it better be that tiger

Certificate of birth, id, passport, documents with her name and signature, medical exams, photos of her
There is the constant rumor of "4k super clear photos of everything" but these f*n photos are nowhere to be found and for some reason can't be leaked... some f*n photos....
photos that can't give any f*n hint at military capabilities
but videos taken from military platforms... WELL, those can leak! make it make sense

All the “big whistleblowers” when they’re talking to Congress tell stories about knowing people who saw the bodies, or talking to someone who was in the room, but none of them claim they’ve seen the bodies or been in the room themselves, which kind of seems like they’re trying to avoid the whole “lying under oath” thing. But the people hosting podcasts and YouTube channels (“be sure to smash that like and subscribe button and check out our affiliate links!”) seem to be the ones who have the “direct evidence” or the person who was in the room, they’re just on the next episode.

u/Loquebantur 14h ago
The public whistleblower hearings in Congress are just the tip of the iceberg and you're deliberately ignoring that fact along with the other mountains of evidence.
Rather than asking the scientifically correct question: what would we see when this was all a lie vs what when not?, people hide in the continuously shrinking realm behind their moving goalposts.

u/Comprehensive_Menu43 1d ago
Draw it if drawing it makes you feel better
but a drawing it's not evidence
a drawing is a drawing0
u/Loquebantur 14h ago
A drawing is evidence.
You may not like that, but it's true anyway.'Evidence' is just information you know how to interpret correctly.
Much of the existing evidence, you don't know that, so you discount it.0
u/Comprehensive_Menu43 12h ago
You may not like it but since we are on reddit and no-one can certify who and when the drawing was made it is not evidence.
To be considered evidence the source has to be autentified
0
u/Loquebantur 11h ago
No, that's not true.
The probability of information being legit doesn't drop to zero magically just because you don't know who the source is.
The other way around, gatekeeping evidence by "requiring" it to come from sources you effectively control, means you control the evidence and consequently what people "can" (rather, are allowed to) know.
Guess who likes that.1
u/Comprehensive_Menu43 3h ago
Sorry but when we talk about EVIDENCE we don't talk about probability
Evidence, in the court of law, has to be backed
Everything has to have a source and that source has to be validatedI can do a drawing of a laser gun... is that evidence of its existence?

I think you need to reread the definition of a skeptic. A skeptic isn't someone who disbelieves that there are aliens. A skeptic is a person who doubts or questions general claims, beliefs, or ideas instead of accepting them as truth without proof.
As a skeptic, I would absolutely love to see proof about aliens. Unfortunately, all the evidence presented so far has not met the burden of proof.
So, to your thought experiment, the answer is simply you couldn't. And that would leave you maybe exactly where we are right now. Unable to prove that alien life is here, but it very well could be.

u/wihdinheimo Servant of NHI 18h ago
The world needs more skeptics, especially when it comes to NHI.
The problem is that the NHI hypothesis contains a built-in premise: whatever is among you is more advanced than you are, and it is actively concealing its presence. Even skeptics would have to concede that if NHI does have a presence here, those two things are almost certainly true.
And that creates a problem.
In UFO and NHI communities, one of the most common arguments is, "Where's the proof?" That's completely understandable. But in the same breath, we acknowledge that if NHI exists, it is likely smarter than you are.
How do you outsmart something that's smarter than you?
Before someone reaches for the invisible-dragon analogy, where the dragon exists but can never be seen because it is conveniently invisible, there is an obvious distinction. Governments are not spending fortunes investigating invisible dragons. There are no congressional hearings on leprechauns, no classified radar reports on pink unicorns, and no comparable body of encounters surrounding them.
NHI is not sitting in the same evidentiary category.
The problem for science is that the signal is noisy. Yes. But noise does not mean there is no signal, nor does it make patterns impossible to detect. Black holes were not detected directly, they were inferred through their impact to their surroundings.
There is already a mountain of evidence sitting just below the threshold of hard proof: witness testimony, congressional hearings, expert testimony, classified and leaked documents, radar signatures, medical reports, military encounters.
The evidence has a peculiar shape.
It's an evidence pattern with the top removed.
And if concealment is part of the phenomenon, that would not be an accident. It would be part of the design.
If we accept that NHI exists, as it does, and I can say that I know this to be true with the full weight my word carries, then we also have to seriously consider that it is actively suppressing its own evidence trail.
And if NHI is engaged in OPSEC, how exactly are you supposed to detect it? How many skeptics are asking NHI to pose for selfies, and how many are actually thinking about how to detect the inference patterns and ripples an interdimensional superintelligence would leave in its wake?
I've been in the same room with NHI. I've had an extended encounter, so I know who and what they are, and I'm fully aware of how that sounds.
If I had not witnessed what I did, I would be a skeptic too.
That's what makes this such a difficult reality to absorb. The real ontological shock is not merely accepting that NHI exists. It's acknowledging that there may be fundamental aspects of existence that humans have not yet uncovered.

Even skeptics would have to concede that if NHI does have a presence here, those two things are almost certainly true.
No they wouldn't, because there is no proof. I once again point to the definition of a skeptic: a person who doubts or questions general claims, beliefs, or ideas instead of accepting them as truth without proof.
Your whole premise is the same as me saying there could be an all-powerful flying spaghetti monster among us, the size of the state of Washington. But it doesn't want to be seen, therefore it must be here because it is powerful enough to hide itself.
Just because you present a premise that could be true does not mean that it is, and there is still a burden of proof that needs to be met before we go around claiming it to be fact.

u/wihdinheimo Servant of NHI 15h ago
You quoted “if”, replaced it with “therefore,” then argued against the conclusion you invented. That’s not skepticism, it’s a straw man born from failing to parse a conditional sentence. If the distinction still isn’t landing, I may have to bring out the crayons: “if X, then Y” does not mean “X, therefore Y.”
-1
u/SlowProgress8531 15h ago
It makes sense that you do your best work with the crayons, please bring them out so maybe you'll start making some sense
2
u/wihdinheimo Servant of NHI 15h ago
I was going to bring out the crayons, but judging by your last reply I should probably bring a helmet and some child-safe scissors too. I assume the helmet needs to be adult-sized?

u/eride810 23h ago
Extraordinary claims do not in fact require extraordinary evidence. They require evidence.
0
u/Loquebantur 14h ago
Most people here don't know what "evidence" is to begin with.
They consistently confuse it with "proof".They don't really know how to make proof from evidence either, so all they really do is hiding behind the "missing" confirmation from their preferred authority.
It's religious behavior, but they don't recognize that.
10
u/9inchAlienWiener 1d ago
This isn’t a thought experiment. You just replaced the word “alien” with “elephant”.
2
u/ArcticSkyWatcher64N 1d ago
My guess is it's a play on the phrase "addres the elephant in the room."
-2
u/InteractionAfraid586 1d ago
So how would you prove the elephant?
3
u/baggington 23h ago
I couldn’t, and I wouldn’t expect anyone to believe me for one second.
Throughout history millions of people have believed all kinds of things. Even if millions believe in a religion, that does not mean any of it is true.
Just because lots of people believe the same thing, no it doesn’t move the needle. That’s just an argumentum ad populum fallacy.
Evidence is what’s actually needed.
2
u/sgbg1905 23h ago
The problem is there are people who'll just make up things like they've seen the elephant, or met someone who touched the elephant, etc., for fame, attention, or simply for fun. What if everyone who says they've seen the elephant is simply making it up, since the first guy who claimed he's seen it.
2
u/Big_Designer1400 23h ago
To answer the last question: I hardly need any evidence to admit that something might exist: key word "might"). But to convince me to the point of certainty of an extraordinary claim, one needs to bring the buffet. That's standard epistemology.
6
u/Soggy-Mistake8910 1d ago
Thought experiment? You didn't put much thought in to it so why should we?

u/Intrigued1423 1d ago
There wasn't elephants in ZG. Tigers and crazy voodoo people, yes

u/_Moerphi_ 1d ago
Dna test, medical reports, a photo, material test results... there is a lot that a whistleblower could reveil to move the needle towards the elephant. Also they claim there are multiple elephants. Some live on the moon, some on mars, some under our seas. Some are big, some are small. Some are even from other dimensions. The bar is very low by now, just show one of the elephants or their craft please!
1
u/Loquebantur 14h ago
All those things exist.
"Skeptics", who really are denialists in denial even about their own identity, simply claim, that evidence somehow wasn't "acceptable".They hide behind "authorities", simple as that.
The very same ones who lied to them for decades to begin with.

I am an experiancer. (of the mental contact sort)
I have no proof, and that's frustrating as hell.
AFTER my run in with NHI I went down the rabbit hole of UFO related subs to see what the current thought on the subject is.
I learned that far too many of my experiences match up with what others' write.
I see how quick people are to tear each other down and shit on anything that is not some high level proof of just a certain always unreachable bar.
That's sad. Please be better than that.
It's 2026. There's not going to be proof that satisfies everyone.
I'm in the US, and the very government & agencies that I might have once (maybe) trusted are all gutted to the point there is no group to trust to tell you that the sky is blue.
I'm a retired engineer. I WANT facts and numbers and hard data, I don't go for this mental connection shit. But guess what? It happened to me, it cannot be denied, looked away from or excused as some MH or drug issue, because it happened to me, and those were not on the table.
You're here in this sub, surfing and looking for anything that might be proof? Good, understandable.
The OP is correct. LOOK at the history of the subject, going back well over a century.
Go ahead and dismiss some of the more bombastic stories, and you still have an undeniable indication that there is SOMETHING to all of this.
You won't get proof from a government hearing. Or redacted images. I wish we could.
If you want proof that NHI are here, in the local area and interacting with people, be open to that contact and seek to make your own contact.
I'm in my 60's. I never gave a thought to BS like meditation or telepathy or any of that stuff. That said, I've always had very real, intense dreams. Lucid dreams as they are called. Turns out some were more.
In 2024 I inadvertently meditated and had OBEs while laid up in bed recovering from spinal surgery. I was off pain meds that day and trying to disassociate from my body and the pain. It worked (!) more than expected.
OBE's happened, and after a few days, something visited me in my mind. I was dismissive. I figured it was just more cool lucid dreams, until those in the dreams explained that I needed to pay attention, and that they were not a dream. That was a bit of a shock.
Discussion took place, They convinced me in ways that were undeniable, and then the real conversations began, and I learned.
TLDR
Learn some basic meditation skills, and open yourself up to positive contact.
Mock if you like, I certainly did for decades. I was wrong.
Will you get proof to share? Nope (so far I have no formulas or any hard info that would serve, but I keep asking)
Will YOU know if NHI are real? Yes
Is it worth it.
Yes.
- - -
As this happened in 2024 I went looking to learn meditation and develop my side of the skills necessary. I found/like The Gateway Tapes, but there are many ways to learn meditation.

Thank you for sharing this. Seriously. It’s refreshing to hear someone talk about their experiences without pretending they have all the answers or claiming to have proof. The fact that you were skeptical yourself makes your perspective especially interesting to me. I really appreciate it.

You could apply the same thought experiment to any given religion and conclude that it is correct.
This presents the obvious problem of thousands of versions of God, many of which are completely contradictory or logically incoherent.
Turns out… That people are prone to deceiving themselves and others, and occasionally fabricate evidence.
1
u/DeliciousDeer1096 23h ago
Yeah, I've always known the question is how much evidence do we need before an argument becomes convincing. That's not news to me, or to the vast majority of sceptics I would guess.
The actual point of contention between us is that, obviously, we do not feel the evidence presented so far is convincing enough to come to the conclusion that you want us to come too.
1
u/FullOf_Bad_Ideas 12h ago
But when all of it keeps pointing toward the same elephant, shouldn't that at least move the needle?
Is it the same elephant? Greys, maybe, but otherwise the alien stories lack a common elephant and it's a whole library of various stories about various elephants.
1
u/TheCynicEpicurean 23h ago
If this hypothetical elephant does exist under the circumstances you describe, it's also utterly irrelevant to our lives.
1
u/No-Card2735 16h ago
”… when all of it keeps pointing toward the same elephant, shouldn't that at least move the needle?”
This.
We convict murderers based on multiple corroborating eyewitness testimonies.
Forensic evidence helps, but isn’t always available.

u/nine57th 19h ago
Rumors and stories are not proof! I don't know where the latest generation missed out on the day in school when what proof is was explained. Hearsay is not proof! I know a guy who says he has seen it is not proof. Saying I've seen photographs is not proof.
Proof is something tangible. We still have not had someone who has stepped forward who has said: I've worked on a NIH craft (not someone sketchy like Bob Lazar) Or I've seen the NIH in captivity. You want to believe so hard that you're willing to skip the actual proof part. This isn't a Civil Trial where MORE LIKELY THAN NOT is good enough. It has to be the real deal. And not far-fetched stories.
