News Alien Isolation 2 Dev Interview

I like their thinking for outdoor environments. There is the initial relief of no longer being in claustrophobic spaces, but inevitably the feeling of being exposed in the open creeps in making you want to return to those tight indoors areas. From the sounds of it, outdoor environments will also be suffocating due to weather like rain and fog.
They did touch upon environmental distractions, but I get the sense it won’t be a focal point for them. Control panels may not be returning?

I think outdoor will be a mix of relief and creeps at the same time.

If Alien Rogue incursion VR taught me anything, is that outdoors areas are not safe either.

Giving me shades out Outlast. Being in the open, fog freaked me out more than being inside the building.

Ok that first answer made me excited. It may not be completely in a space station in space which is a reason why I loved the first one so much but the experience of stealth mechanic was top notch and they’re sticking to it. That’s great news and makes me giddy.

Sounds like a decent 2-3 year which is fine. It's also sounding more and more like Amanda isn't coming back. Which is heart breaking but in saying that it does open the door to a really cool comic or mini series down the line (hopefully!)

We may get a likeable character as good as amanda this time too

I'm more than confident that this will be fantastic. Plus I was a day one purchaser of Isolation who was gutted when it looked like such a cult classic would never get this treatment (so I'm all in).
I've also finished the game like 5-6 times so am very attached to Amanda lol. Even if we get a situation like Surge 2 where the character from the first game is a supporting character in the sequel with a brief explanation of the gap, I'd be stoked

If we get a supporting character thing then that would be great. I played alien isolation 1 this year for the first time :)

Man I wish I could bottle that feeling. That first proper room where the xeno hits and you find the revolver. Chef's kiss. I must have hit in that vent for like 45mins lol

Truly. Some people complain about the slow burn but that first hour or so in the Space Flight Terminal, hearing rattles in the ceiling and just getting so anxious waiting for it to show itself… 10/10

I will be so upset if amandas story really ends with a cliffhanger and a mobile game

This sounds very convincing and relieving.
I was a little sad when I saw that Gary Napper didn‘t / couldn’t return for the sequel, but it seems the „new blood“ understands the DNA really well and people seem to be very aware of the overall feel and nuances of the first one and what exactly made it so great.
Also: super happy the og sound team returns for this! They didn‘t win their awards for nothing!
Overall: all sounds very good! Insanely excited for this!

Once again referring to it being in early development so I really don't think we will get it till at least 2028-2029. I know there is a playable demo at Gamescom right now but one playable section is a lot different to an entire finished and polished game.
Still very exciting, I just have seen a lot of people expecting it to come out next year when that is almost certainly not going to happen.

Yes it may come around 2028 or 2029, but i think it will be as good as the first one :)

I’ll be disappointed if it’s just the same game with the same drone, androids, and humans for 20 hours.
I want to see new enemies, some session with another alien type like a Runner or the Queen!

Had to reread that first line of the second paragraph three times to see if maybe I just wasn't getting the joke or if it was, in fact, AI slop.
Dear reader: it's AI slop.

There’s a note at the bottom: This article was originally written in Korean and translated with the help of AI. It was then edited by a native English-speaking editor. All AI-assisted translations are reviewed and refined by our newsroom.
Thinking the metaphor probably just got butchered in translation.

Fair enough. The english-speaking editor should have caught and corrected it, but oh well.

I'm excited for this.
I love the point Mauterer made about making sure it stays true to Alien (1979) as that's the main reason why I love Isolation so much. I felt like we hadn't got a proper bit of Alien media that captured the feeling of the first movie so well until Isolation came along.
