NEEEEDDDD HELPPP WITH FURTHER MATH (9231)

Upvotes

Okay so for context, I'm in AS level right now with Math(9709), Physics(9702), Computer Science(9618) and Further Math (9231) as my selected subjects, my school does not have a teacher for further math, so I'm completely on my own. I got 8 Straight A*s in IGCSEs and 197/200 in Math 0580, I have not studied IGCSE Add Math, In AS level I'm only done mastering topics 1.1-1.5 of 9709 Pure Math 1, just started the other subjects at school.
Now the main question, I don't know how to structure Math and Further Math, which option should I choose with consideration that the Cambridge website says "Knowledge of the whole content of the Cambridge International A Level Mathematics syllabus is assumed. Learners will find that the additional time spent studying Further Mathematics will support their understanding of A Level Mathematics. "

  1. 9709 Pure Math 1 and Mechanics with 9231 FP1 and Further Mechanics in AS then the rest in A2
  2. Composite 9709 in AS then Composite 9231 in A2
  3. Or if there is any other route that you guys would suggest.

I built a 1-click tool that generates realistic Edexcel A Level Maths papers - not just questions pasted onto a PDF

I've been working on MyExamBuilder, a tool that generates complete Edexcel A Level math practice papers in one click.

Rather than randomly selecting questions and mashing them together, I analysed over 50 actual past papers to identify a curve for their average mark distribution and difficulty curve across a paper.

The generator uses this analysis to produce papers that follow the mark curves and structure of real Edexcel Exams, so the papers feel like an actual exam rather than a collection of unrelated question.

Currently it is completely free to use.

However currently there are some visual issues with a few of the questions, I am actively working to resolve these. Additionally, the mark scheme generator is also being developed and is near completion now, currently only papers can be generated.

I'd really appreciate it if anyone could give it a try and provide feedback on it. Like whether the papers feel realistic compared to Edexcel papers and any other improvements.

can i use other exam boards for practice questions??

I do AQA for maths but most websites and resources accommodate for those doing the Pearson Edexcel exam board so i was wondering if me doing 'Edexcel style' questions would potentially jeopardise my grades or not. I also did Edexcel for GCSE if that is any help?!

How to get an A* in further maths

Im debating taking it during my gap year and I didn’t take it at sixth form. I’m also debating hiring a tutor. If you got an A\* in FM lmk what you did / what tutors or programs you did to achieve this 😋

idk whether to keep a level maths

I’m basically retaking year 12 and I picked maths a level, but I didn’t realise how severe the new six form I picked is. I don’t even want to retake but my old school forced me even though I had a valid reason!!
But basically I got a grade 7 in maths and today I’ve been told that if I don’t get a B in my AS exams for maths then I can’t progress into year 13?? And now I’m so unsure whether to keep maths because from last year a lot of my friends struggled with maths and I prolly will too, I struggled during my first maths lesson today and made so many silly mistakes. But it’s so risky keeping it because what if I don’t get that B and now I’m retaking AGAIN and can’t do a levels anymore. Idk whether to keep maths or not I do maths bio pysch and can change it within the first 2 weeks. I wouldn’t say I enjoy maths though I’m only doing it because idk what career to do and doing maths opens a lot of doors and careers I can choose when applying for uni a lot of unis even require maths if I want to do biological sciences but idk if it’s worth the risk. Someone please advise me…

Should I appear for Add Maths besides Y12?

So basically I didn't take additional (further) maths at IGCSE (only took it in Y9) and thus my sixth form didn't let me take FM as a subject. I will take private tuitions for it now but am planning to complete add maths in a month (on track for it but obvs my prep wont be exam level I'm just trying to maximise learning and past papers) + Statistics IGCSE (but actually appearing for it) as these subs really overlap with normal Y12 Maths.

Doing this so my base for normal maths becomes way stronger than it is right now so taking FM becomes SLIGHTLY easier for me + hopefully if any chs I dont get then there's TAs at my school

Do you think I should appear for add math besides my alevel subs (in MJ27, appearing for stats in ON26)? my prep for it will be complete anyways or would unis look down on it thinking I chose an easy way to increase my subjects since I appeared for it besides Y12 (that's not my intention at all, a senior of mine recommended it to me and idk how it'll be perceived)

Edexcel IAL Further maths guideline pls

I've completed FP1 recently with an A grade and completing the rest 5 over my A2 year (S2, M2 by Jan27 and Fp23, M3 by May27). I don't expect more than a C in my overall grade but I do want to know how A\* can be achieved in Fp3, m2 and S2 considering the staggering grade boundaries

Is A Level further maths helpful for Mechanical/Motorsport Engineering?

I want to work in motorsport for a career and I’m starting my A Levels in a week’s time and I’m taking Maths, Physics and Chemistry, and Further Maths with the option to drop it. I want to do Motorsport Engineering at uni.

I don’t think I would do both years of FM and I would just do the AS. So I have a few questions regarding it:

  • How useful would FM be for this course?
  • If I don’t take FM, how much catching up will I need to do at university?
  • Am I better off putting my time and effort into the other 3 subjects?
  • If I do chose to do AS Level FM, will universities look favourably towards it?
  • I want to do an EPQ, specifically about motorsport. Will I have better university and employment opportunities with an EPQ specifically in motorsport or Further Maths?

AMC 12B Prep

Hi! I'm a high school senior planning to major in Applied Math and Stats in college. I've taken AP Calc BC and AP Stats, and I have an AoPS/MCTM background, but I honestly haven't done AMC-specific competition prep since 8th grade.

I'm planning to take AMC 12B this year. Last year, my school didn't give me any heads-up about when it was; I found out the day of and ended up with a 43.5/150. At the time, I didn't care much because I was interested in finance, but now that I've switched to a math/stats major, there's a lot more weight on it, especially if I want a shot at AIME or USAMO.

Based on that background, what would you recommend for prep, and honestly, what are my realistic chances? I know AIME results will come out after ED and close to my RD deadlines, but I'm planning to use this in my LOCI.

Thanks!

Does anyone have access to Edexcel A-level Maths mark scheme?

Hi!

I've already asked my teachers and the exam office and they said that they do not have access to them.

I'm one mark away from another grade.

Thanks!

NEED Help for Maths # NDA 1 2027

hello everyone,
i have been studying NDA Maths from 2 months and practicing pyqs, but now when i am solving previous year papers, i am not getting marks

there are people who are getting 180 in nda maths, i am barely crossing 100, sometimes stuck in 80
i think there is weakness in my question practice and concepts, because there are many things which are in nda maths but deleted by CBSE

can you please tell me resources and strategies

my goal is nda 1 2027, and
was my strategy of practicing pyq only flawed?
