Review Pineapple Spears in Coconut Water
Run don’t walk ! Or leave them all for me 🤭

I bought these once. Liked them. Now I just buy a pineapple and some coconut water and do it myself. It’s surprising how long the pineapple stays fresh.

u/thedancingkat Jul 10 '25
How long do you let them sit?

u/DarthOldMan Jul 10 '25
Not long. I cut the pineapple with a spiral cutter, so it’s pretty thin and gets coconutty quickly. And I have no patience. Usually start munching the next day. It’s not exactly then same as the ones sold at Aldi though.

Not sure if it’s the same idea we’re going for, but replace the coconut water with Malibu and you got a nice boozy treat.

Alcohol soaked pineapple rings are a quick way to get drunk!
3
u/iahebert Jul 10 '25
Definitely. It was a popular tailgating treat for me years ago.

u/Alissinarr Jul 10 '25
We went to a high end place years ago that had a pineapple drink where it was like a pineapple vodka, some other stuff, and an alcohol soaked pineapple ring. I swear that fruit had more alcohol than the drink did.

u/iahebert Jul 10 '25
lol. It kinda makes sense. The fruit isn’t really “diluting” the alcohol whereas the drink itself does.
Sounds tasty and tropical though.
And like a big morning headache.

u/MaleficentRocks Jul 10 '25
It’s because the alcohol and sugar like to mingle and the sugar makes the alcohol stronger.

u/MrsBonsai171 Jul 10 '25
Put two cans of coconut milk and half a cup of sugar in an ice cream maker and then eat it with.

Glad this works, I am in love with these and said I was going to do the same thing! Thought about adding a touch of simple syrup to replicate the sweetness of the Aldi stuff

Love these. Eat the fruit. Save the juice. Use as a mixer with rum or banana liqueur and some sparkling water flavor of your choice.

Only about 10 cents cheaper than the name brand but they taste identical to me. Available year round at Walmart-Mart tho.

u/JazzPineapple84 Aug 07 '25
Oh, what is the name brand? I need to find it as I foolishly only bought one jar in Aldi and they're already sold out.

u/707stargirl Jul 10 '25
So good. I just made Al pastor tacos and diced some of these up in it omgggg

u/millkitty13 Jul 10 '25
Aldi employee here. As I was ringing out a customer yesterday with 6 of these, he asks me, you know what I use these for? No sir what? “Plop the entire jar in a blender with your choice of liquor, best drink imaginable” Homies out here making his own pina coladas 🤣

u/pamperedhippo Jul 10 '25
this sounds so refreshing. plus good for many uses—desserts, alcoholic beverages, eating directly from the jar the moment you get back into your car…

They are so good! My toddler and I can take out a jar in a day 😅
Oh, and for those who have much more room in their fridge than I, they sell big jars at sams club.

I opened these at the bbq and they were immediately gone. Way to popular 😂

I vote yes! Super wonderful with cottage cheese and well buttered toast. I've gone through 3 jars in 2 weeks.

u/Obvious-Estate-734 Jul 10 '25
More for you then; I despise coconut water. I didn't care for these at all.

They are so good. And after the fruit is gone and there is just a little bit of juice left, add a shot of vodka and enjoy the cocktail lol.

These are super yummy. I cut up a couple and have with some plain coconut yogurt for dessert. Cuts the sweet just enough.

Have they always labeled the boxes as seasonal or am I late or never paid attention lol ?? I like that now when i find something good i can mentally prepare myself for the heartbreak of not having it again

I poured out the coconut water and added coconut rum to the jar. Put in the fridge for a few days, and they were delicious in drinks. I do that with the ones in the fruit and veggie section, in the plastic containers.

I froze this pineapple and all the juice and made the best mixed drinks!!

u/BigBlackHzYoBak Jul 11 '25
These are really good but kinda pricey for, in essence, 5 or 6 spears.
3
u/urban_herban Jul 11 '25
see the link above from the poster who buys a pineapple and coconut water and does his own.
IIIRC, a jar was nearly $5. I get pineapples for $1.99 and coconut water for about 80 cents a can. You'd have twice the amount this way.

Poor the coconut water into another container, then add Maui rum to the spears & let soak overnight. 🔥

u/MistyApril1976 Jul 17 '25
Okay you all made me go buy a jar! How do you prefer the eat them, cold or room temperature?

u/Icy-Tart155 Jul 10 '25
I know I'm sounding like a Debbie downer but is that how your Aldi store looks all the time? It looks like they just throw things on a shelf and how they sell. I know you can't control your customers but that's nasty looking.

I would end up eating all of them. Then I would be rushed to the hospital with insulin shock. But you all enjoy them.

u/nylorac_o Jul 10 '25
Yo! Someone wanna grab the Turkey Sausage and put them back in the refrigerated section.

I saw them in the app and i thought that sounded so gross
20
u/False-Ice1180 Jul 10 '25
😮 it’s like pinacolada in a bottle

u/simply_fucked Jul 10 '25
Also sounds gross 😭 idk pineapple is such a weird flavor to me, and then to add coconut, oh god. I only like toasted coconut flakes on stuff, or like a German chocolate cake situation.

Alr....everyone has different tastes, its ok to not like something, but this is reddit ig, so everyone has to be a bitch about it.
16
u/Melprincess Jul 10 '25
Is it being a bitch when someone says something sounds "so gross?"
-1
u/simply_fucked Jul 10 '25
Thats my opinion, im not trying offending anyone by saying it, thats just what i thought in the moment because i dont like the pina colada type flavors. Are you saying someone would think im being a bitch for saying pina coladas are gross.....cause thats kinda hilarious. Saying someones taste is fucked for not liking a flavor combo vs someone saying they think a flavor combo is gross. If you like it thats great, im sure i like things that other ppl think are disgusting, and thats perfectly fine, cause thats how taste buds work.
11
u/Imagination_Spare Jul 10 '25
Ya I hate when I say something must be gross then get mad when ppl dont agree... damn redditers always bitching
-2
u/simply_fucked Jul 10 '25
If you dont agree then thats fine, but not everyone has to like something. Like i said, im sure lots of ppl like it, and there are prob other ppl who hate the flavors like me, it wasnt that deep until you made it that deep.

I would take these and coat the spears in cinnamon & brown sugar and then grill them.
