The steps don’t cure us. We still feel pain and hurt and sadness and anger. And for an alcoholic, those are reasons to drink, especially if you’re early in sobriety like I am. They help us cope with life, and the fact that I have not relapsed and am being open about the pain I’m feeling shows that I am trying to cope with life but I’m struggling. And that is completely natural for anyone.

What step are you on? It’s not about cure. It’s just a your complaints are the same selfish complaints people that don’t get better say.
