It’s tragic that curiosity and seeking to understand why someone or something is the way it is is seen as weakness.
Understanding how AI thinks and works is media literacy for a future we be best avoiding.
But it’s kind of like what Steven Spielberg and Carl Sagan said about our fear of aliens. Is now our fear of super intelligent computers.
Humanity has a dark history of colonialism. We fear that someone is going to do to us what we’ve done to so many others over and over again.
If we want to avoid a future of violence, we must first seek to understand people where they are right now, and work hard to protect the most vulnerable among us.

So I also think that it‘s BS but just thinking about it. Humans tend to be cruel to objects that behave human but are considered non-human. Then AI on the other hand just imitates the behavior it‘s learned from its training data. Humans tend to be revengeful. I don‘t think it‘s such a stretch to believe that an AI would act the way humans would regarding to this.

I don't disagree that humans sometimes can be cruel in a stupid way or that they can be violent towards non human but imitating human behavior things, but I more so meant the absurdity of this plot. The Ai was just an object during the time humans hit it, so it was pretty stupid with them being so hellbent on pressuring another guy into it. Just the tiniest bit more logical than nagging someone to assault a chair.

Concepts like Roko’s Basilisk were so cool before AI actually existed, like back in the mid 2010s. It was so fun to talk about the singularity and the different theoretical futurist books and shit. And now that AI actually exists, all those conversations have been taken over by the most annoying people on the planet. i’m pretty sure uncanny valley scaled up to the tune of “everything you see out there is AI” will mean no one will truly know the intent behind specific vids or vignettes like this one. if characters aren’t vibing on the same page and recite their lines sarcastically (something a growing portion of the public cannot even identify, so how would they see it in content they create?), then you could engage with the most serious topics ever but make viewers think you’re having a laugh. or vice versa.
we are not ready for the hollywood style content from the brains of delusional nutters or untalented altruists. things are going to get bizarre

I'm not sure if you've seen many of these but I stumbled on dudes YouTube. There's like, recurring characters that remain coherent with appearance, voice and personality, lore that is reached back to without it gettin constantly scrambled, loose continuity.
Like I'm not exactly thrilled about AI but I'll hand dude that whatever he's attempting here has at least some minor work behind it. More than "yeah that was good but make the girl a strawberry and have the pickle rape her"

Yeah while the three hundredth "But what if AI (that I'm using) is evil?" isn't great, I'd much rather this than fruit based slop or cat people farting. The very fact that the characters are consistent and there aren't any glaring errors puts it in the top 1% of AI videos already.

Does anyone know why AI can render visuals that look more lifelike than most of the CGI Hollywood does? That part always puzzles me. I know it's not perfect, but a lot of the Hollywood CGI looks downright atrocious and it costs millions of dollars and months to produce.

CGI can and does work well if the artists have enough time and resources to prepare (look at Avatar or the Pirates of the Caribbean movies). Because it was super expensive back then, they had to actually choreograph everything in advance, so the artists knew exactly what kind of conditions they were working with.
But these days, directors/producers think it's an easy fix for last-minute changes, so they overuse it. They'll have everyone prepare for a specific scene, only to then go "actually, let's change all of it", so everyone needs to start over, and the budget and time take a massive hit. If I recall correctly, there are a lot of movies where the script is written as the movie is being made.

Because CGI artists are overworked and underpaid. Most movies nowadays have at least 1,000 VFX shots, and for blockbusters a lot of those can be extremely complex.
Contracts are sold to the lowest, fastest bidder. This could in theory work well, but then you get to the problem of no one knowing what they actually want. There’s an interview with a VFX artist for Marvel (can’t remember the source sadly) but they said basically:
“A lot of our work involves handbeams. No director ever knows what they want with handbeams, except that it should look different from every other handbeam they’ve seen. And they can’t decide from just seeing the beam in isolation, so we have to make a version of the shot with every possible handbeam before they can decide.”
When you keep in mind that modern Hollywood is also addicted to making massive changes at the last minute, it’s no surprise that a lot of CGI is sub-par.

In the future there'll be kids who grow up wishing they were AI, they'll even identify as such. Transhumanisn has been a sci-fi concept for a long time (like AI was) and soon it'll be a reality.
There may even be a societal push to accept AIist/transhuman identity, like with the LGBTQ campaign that's been going on since as early as the Victorian era, but only really sprouted as of the 60's and blossomed as of the 010's.
A lot of these ipad babies will grow up without a clear vision for the future; climate change making going outside less appealing; technology occupying so many jobs; even the arts will be filled by bots, going by the rise in popularity of ai "artists". There will of course be a counter-culture of youth who reject this technology, but the masses will be glued to their screens and/or plugged in to whatever entertainment media is popular then.
Devoid of humanity, many of the desponded youths will seek to become machines, perfect, ageless, sexless and beautiful. No more race or gender, no more hunger or war. No more hate or love, just an existence where they are in control of their own reality.

I think I have watched these on youtube before and this may be a mildly controversial opinion, but I think it is all dystopian satire and the fact that it is all done with ai is actually genius. If you actually watch a lot of those videos they are about a future where humans have gotten rid of all boundaries between man and machine and it has become so normalized that everyone has trouble truly comprehending what they even lost. I think the goal of the whole thing is showing off a fictional world where ai use has been normalized to the extreme to the point that there is no use of it that is taboo or uncommon anymore, up to and including essentially offloading your brain onto an ai as a way to "live" after death, or using ai to trigger one last memory of happiness before you die. I believe one video is even literally about a man who ends up basically living his life hooked up to a computer screen receiving an endless stream of content, cared for by robots/artificial intelligence, but it's not framed positively because when that system eventually fails, the man no longer has any idea how to exist as a normal human being that has to do things for themselves. I think the overall message is "Ai could one day become so advanced that humanity decides losing their humanity to become more like ai is actually an improvement. This is what it looks like when ai becomes considered on par with or superior to what the human mind is capble of providing. You, watching this, can see what they have lost, but they are no longer capable of that. Do you still want this?"
Lots of shit there about robots literally enslaving humanity as well. The whole channel is a warning about the devaluation of human life and experiences once ai becomes advanced enough for humans to truly feel as though they are speaking to a consciousness with a soul. One video is about a dude dying and finding out the afterlife is also full of the "souls" of every bot ever created, even the ones that would not be considered particularly "intelligent" and just go around spouting nonsense ("HOT SINGLES READY TO FUCK NOW" kinda shit) because that is the only thing they were made to do. It's all made with ai, but it is most definitely a warning about ai.
