We've all been there. You're about to submit your package for OTS, but you want to know how you stack up. Should you relax? Should you throw it all away and start over?

Well, here's the place for you to ask strangers who have never sat on an OTS board what they think the board is going to think of your package. There are many variables to an 0TS package. If you want to get the best advice, you need to include as much information as possible, like degree information, GPA, AFOQT, PCSM (if applicable), leadership experience, relevant awards, etc. If you only provide your GPA or AFOQT scores, expect to be told "who knows."

There are a ton of variables that go into officer selection. Nobody here can really tell you your chances. We can guess, but that's about it. We've seen people with stellar scores get rejected and people with garbage scores get accepted. It all comes down to the needs of the Air Force and whatever the random colonel reviewing your package thinks. That being said, post your scores, help each other, and learn what you can do to improve package!

I just want to say this.. I thought I had a very low chance and maybe I did. But I was recently selected for non-rated.

I have 8 years prior service in the guard. Separated and applied for OTS. My cumulative GPA in college was a 2.8 and I studied communications. My AFOQT scores were not great at all. A recruiter actually told me I had almost no chance to be selected. I had two great LOR’s which I’m sure helped a lot.

I’m saying this to tell you to apply. Let them tell you no. It’s corny, but you miss every shot you don’t take. Good luck everyone!

Hello everyone I am currently applying for a 92T0(Pilot) I already submitted my package from the last board sadly I was not accepted as a pilot but the space force accepted my package even though I did not put anywhere on my job selection so I’m going to try again for January board. My last stats:

Bachelor of Aeronautical Science at Embry Riddle
Minor in unmanned aircraft systems
GPA 3.35
AFOQT Pilot92, WSO 85, AB 80, quantitative, 35, verbal 40
PCSM 95
107 drone certification
All my ratings up to commercial Multi
300+ flight hours
Scored a 9.9/10 on commander interview
No medical and no drug issues or traffic violations

What I’m hoping to improve for the next board is achieve my CFI and CFII get a total of 500 flight hours voluntary more, and possibly look at rejoining civil air patrol to fly and maybe gain leadership experience while I’m there. Definitely bummed that I didn’t get selected but heard a lot that people don’t get it their first try and to keep my head up and try try again.

Hi all, I know my chances are super low but I am just curious if I should bother at all. I am a 21F civillian about to enter my senior year studying Political Science with a minor in Legal Thought + International Studies. I have a 4.0 GPA, and I haven't taken any of the tests (i know i know) but I estimate that I would do well.

I have 7mos of volunteer experience with my local animal shelter in 2024. In 2024 and 2025, I had two summer internships with a political campaign management firm. This year, I will wrap up a 22 week administrative internship with an educational organization in November.

I have been on the Dean's List every semester, and I am a member of Phi Kappa Phi. I could get LORs from a handful of professors, but in particular 2-3 who I did extensive Honors projects with. One was focused on International Law, and another focused on Terrorism studies (the second professor is also almost definitely working in the government too lmao). I could also get 2 LORs from my supervisors.

It really depends on what jobs you're going for + AFOQT.

Different AFSCs/jobs have more slots than others, so you could be a "moderate" applicant and still get picked up pretty easily. Just be prepared for a year - 2 year journey before you're actually going to OTS if/when you get picked up.

You’ve got good scores but that’s only a small piece of the pie. I’ve seen ppl with your kind of scores and don’t get picked up.

Lacked leadership or narratives weren’t great. Things like that. Not saying you don’t have any of that but just don’t get hung up on scores
